Probably temporary, PRO (IIRC) said they can't do 'permanent' on higher firmwares than 6.20.
 
6.60 CIPL Flasher is giving a FW ERROR! here

PSP Slim 02g (fully hackable) here. Anyone else with the same problem?

EDIT: It was fixed on 6.60 PRO-B9.fix1

Why, what changed in 6.60?
ISOTool uses Phantasy Star Infinity to bootstrap the ISO2Eboot. This exploit was finally plugged by Sony, hence 6.60 not allowing them.
Besides, in the changelog, VF recommends keeping to prior PRO CFW until there is a game that absolutely requires 6.60.

ISOs should be fine, but if you plan on upgrading, extract the ISOs from your eboot versions beforehand.
