I still remember asking for ETAs is a big no-no in the Cyanogenmod community. They never know how long it takes to port a rom to another device due to unforeseen issues (driver compatibility etc.)
Well giving an ETA just based on your presumable dedication to a project is just as questionable.
If this scenecrash tought the Community one thing it better be dont feel ballsy for attention. Devs just develop and maybe let people know when there was a breakthrough and users dont ask or beg and just revisit your news-sources every now and then to get your fix, if you feel like donating, do that in a value you feel you can dispose of and you wont feel a fake duty of a dev for anything. And once a project is completed both parties can harvest their respective fruits out of it.

Terrible topic, I can't believe this thread is allowed to still be alive
It is kept on the frontpage, the title draws attention and as long as this thread and the message within it stay on top, there will be no new thread asking the same thing, i feel like not locking it would be the smartest move by now. Works even better than a sticky

Though this is unrelated to Hykem and the IOSU exploit, I can tell you personally that the Wii U scene IS. NOT. DEAD. I actually have a friend who's beta testing a 5.5.1 kernel exploit, and let's not forget smea, and fail0verflow, and Marionumber1...
I don't think the exploit's fake. I do think that this alleged 'raid' is. Just because nothing wasn't put out doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

I'm not saying I don't trust you but most people here will assume you're a liar if you can't produce proof that you have the exploit working.

I understand that people will think that I'm lying, however
A. My friend probably won't give me the exploit, since he is, after all, just a tester and would probably need consent to give it to me.
B. The dev would probably not want a video of his work showing up that isn't his own.
C. If I gave you all proof, you would probably clamor for a release and then, after being denied it, create several threads about how fake I am.

it's ok, il just say you are fake now, better?

just saying dude, you cant just say 'i know a guy' on here without a shred of proof, its not a slight on you, its just how it is.

Are you all seriously now poking on him for mentioning that to disarm the thread a bit? There is not a single reason to either praise or distrust him. I personally would be happy to believe him^^ The userbase here is becoming ridicolous...

Hykem is fantastic, these topics are toxic, people are seeing the title "5.5 IOSU exploit..." and obviously assume this might be an announcement. So a thousand people are hyped up, and then immediately LET DOWN. This should be simple internet etiquette to PROPERLY TITLE FORUM TOPICS, it's something I call "NETIQUETTE"

Man. I posted once on here talking about how a lot of people on here act like self entitled little shits acting like a developer is there own personal whipping boy for a release. I don't post much on this forum mostly due to fear my comments will get shit posted on constantly. I've sat back and watched this community go from ok to a god damn raging shit farm in what feels like no time at all because of ONE dude (hykem if you couldn't tell) making promises he shouldn't have been making. People making trolling posts, threads, Linking to literal rick rolls. Some story of a multi international raid on hackers and devs just magically being pulled out of thin air with no shred of proof. Something I have literally never seen happen in my entire life be done just for console modding. Anyway I'm not here to act like I know all the facts. I don't I'm just as in the dark as everyone else but what I didn't do with my time was keep making shit post after shit post blowing this bullshit into clusterfuck of nonsense it has become. Threads like this need to just go away and until anyone can rise up with proof or some actual facts of what happened and why comes to light we should just move on. With that said go ahead and bury this post if you like or send me a million emails calling me an asshole or a piece of shit, what ever you wan't. In the mean time I'll just be watching from a far.

I wont spam you shut, in fact you are 100% undoubtedly right. But just the fact that this thread stays active is the lesser evil, and not lastly due to it's title. Yup it lets people down A LOT. But at the current state of this forum, EVERY topic remotely getting the "flame about hyky and the 5.5-monks" treatment does, and does come up multiple times per day right now, and every new thread makes people (including me) repeat their shat to make sure it's heard and maybe thought about. So i gotta say people: burry away, and some newby, idiot and shitposter seeing this maybe leaves this thread LEARNING something for once

As it's been said, apparently the guy behind the potential hack disappeared off the face of the planet. There's no need for people to get so angry and entitled over an exploit. Hykem theorized a date for the hack's release, and it didn't happen. Things like that are to be expected in the homebrew community. People are acting like he's the worst man on earth, calm down. And we don't need hardheaded debates on whether the Wii U "has gaems" or not, either.

I think that the ones that are killing the homebrew scene are Hykem and SonyUSA, creating threads and hyping for months, yea yea the exploit is right around the corner.

I think that both Hykem and SonyUSA should be chemically castrated for gettings our hopes up.

Yes, because reporting news that a 5.5 hack is currently in the works is obviously raising YOUR expectations. How dare they make announcements. /s
