Hacking 5.01 exploit PoC

I have a PS4 PRO, sadly it's on 5.05 but I only use it for PS4 exclusive games as I also own a Xbox One X which has better hardware and most games perform and look better on the One X then the PS4 PRO. But as I only play exclusives on my PS4 PRO I don't fret much about not being able to play backuped games, there's also no homebrew, emulators or anything else besides really that would really make me go and look for a PS4 PRO at 4.55 as I have a PS3 Slim with Rebug which plays PS1/2/3 and PSP titles and a Raspberry Pi 3 and PC attached to my TV which renders homebrew and emulators useless for me on consoles. I also buy most my PS4 exclusives when they are on sale, I never buy games for full price.

I will however leave my PS4 PRO at 5.05 for a few more months but I couldn't care less about playing backuped games but I do understand the sentiment that you should be able to do whatever you want with your console. I also have a Nintendo Switch which I haven't used for months, I bought Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which I enjoyed quite a bit. I went also out and bought Super Mario Odyssey but around that time I heard of the Switch being hacked so I've left my Switch at 2.3 untouched ever since. While there's quite exclusives I would love to play on the Switch I think Nintendos prices for games are always steep and they rarely do sales as often as Steam, PSN or Xbox Live I think it's more worthwhile to hack the Switch then a PS4 PRO where you can get AAA games quite cheap after some time on sale.

I've also been thinking of getting a Wii U considering it's fully hacked at any firmware and then I would be able to play Gamecube, Wii and Wii U games on the same console and also run some emulators for older games. While I do know there's Dolphin and Cemu which can render games up to 4K and make them look nice I do feel that those emulators aren't as stable as emulators for older consoles.

Anyways. We get it. You got a PS3. PS4. XBONE. SWITCH*cough*failure*cough and you're thinking of getting a wii u. But how does that relate to the topic of this thread?

I think he was trying to make the point that there are so many other systems that have well established homebrew scenes that currently its not really worth the hassle or investment just to cripple a ps4.

Pretty much sums it up. I don't think PS4 will get an established homebrew scene anytime soon either also and homebrew on consoles is most of the times just not worth it when you can just connect a PC or some other fully hacked console to your TV. The PS4 exclusives are quite cheap also when you just wait for the sales and you get online capabilities also.
 
Speaking of off topic things

Is there any whisper, rumour or even hope for Xbox one getting jailbroken?

He's saying if I go legit, I can use his account to login on my PS4, make my PS4 primary, download ALL his digital games, which include God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and a shit ton of other games, including his digital preorders of Detroit: Become Human and Spiderman. I get to play those games for free. Am so darn confused. What would you suggest? :P

Just FYI, this PS4 Pro is only for exclusives. Other games I play on my PC :)

Something to consider is that even if 5.xx drops you will be stuck there for who knows how long until another exploit releases, or a method is found to play new titles. If your only using it for exclusives the price for those is not much, surely not enough to lose most of the systems current functions, and possibly the ability to play future exclusives. I mean you could always update later should the day come you don't want the exploit anymore, but as it is you don't have it to begin with so...

My opinion is update, and buy a second hand console on 5.05 or below at the cheapest price possible to use for the exploit.

Edit/ @KiiWii I haven't ever heard of someone getting banned for game sharing, is that really a thing? From my understanding the only time that ever happens is if an illegal means was used to purchase the content, and even than it is the account that typically gets banned, not the console!

I'd probably just update. The fact that new titles will be unavailable for the foreseeable future will make it a perpetual waiting game and that really sucks. I'm close to just saying screw it and updating. If PS4 is your main gaming platform it's a different story, then I'd say you may as well wait. Otherwise it's almost not worth it anymore, given it's likely late in the PS4 life cycle already anyway.

I believe Sony allows you to activate your account on 2 console, used to be 5 back in the ps3 days. It would take a massive screw up on the account owners part for it to get banned for game sharing, but I haven't game shared in some time so I'm not fully up to date on the details.

Yep. We'll see. If it isn't out on 27th of April, then it's 27 May, if not, 27th of June, etc. :P
