Hi, Just wondering if a wii remote with a 4 sided d-pad instead of an eight sided d-pad is available anywhere. I have been playing many virtual console NES games and it is extremely annoying when it reads the diagonals and a different direction. Wish that they had no diagonals on the remote. If anyone knows where i can get this or how to modify and existing wii remote in a way that would fix this then please let me know. Thanks,

do the d pad. D pads look like they have 4 directions but on the wii are capable of recognizing diagonals. I want one that can't do that. Can't see diagonal directions.

the controller doesn't do diagonals the game does
from the controller/wii pov its only 4 independent buttons
doubt you will find a controller that messes with that

you could try to make it physically impossible to press more then one button
by inserting a X shaped spacer underneath the cross

Code:
buttons + spacer = unidir

well I suppose it's possible to include it in a custom IOS module
but the chances so finding someone who is able and willing to do such a obscure thing are not good

if you are only interested in NES doing this in an emulator would be much easier
but still not a good chance unless you do it yourself

Id really try HW mods first

you can just change out the white plastic part of the wiimote. as described above, the wiimote circuit board only has 4 directions ( same as pretty much ever d-pad ever made ). sometimes, the manufacturer physically shapes the plastic so it can only press 1 direction at a time. this obviouly isnt the case with the wiimote.

so, simple fix... open up the wiimote and bondo/epoxy or switch the d-pad doodad so it can only press 1 direction at a time.

do you mean the D-Pad on the wiimote or the slide pade on the Nunchuck :S
because my D-pad has 4 directions and my slide pad 8
The thumbstick on the Nunchuk isn't a slide pad. It doesn't even slide...
