I purchased about 4-5 months ago a r4ids for my 3ds xl. My wife updated my 3ds which broke the card, however, I was able to update the primary firmware on the card to ndsi 1.45&3DS4.5.0-10 and wood 1.57 with my NDSL. I was unable to get any other update to work other than the ndsi one from ftp://r4idsdown:[email protected]/R4iGold_NDSi145_Patch.rar. I still get the message

An error has occurred. Press and hold the power button to turn the system off. Please refer to the operations manual for details.

I've even tried downgrading the secondary firmware to 1.55 to update to a different primary firmware but I still receive the same message. I don't know which revision of the card I have, is there any way to find this out? Any advise on how to resolve this?

Thanks!
Vince

It seems your R4i Gold does not support 3DS version 4.5.0-10. The update you used is not for the 3DS, but for the DSi. You should try to use the one with the title below. If it does not work you´ll need a new flash card.
"The new patch for 3DS V4.5.0-10 & DSi V1.45 is releasing!"

I actually tried that one first but neither of them worked for me :( , both report fail. I just tried again and received the exact same result. Do I have an old, unsupported revision of the card?

Sounds like it. Look at the back of it, where the metal pins are, there should be a number or letter near/above the right set of pins.

It's revision C . I'm lost now as to why it's not updating.
There's more than one model called "C", they got lazy and didn't change the revision number. If yours can't update, it's one of the older, stuck models.

I wouldn't call it a scam, since it was a mistake on their part.

Ohh! It seems ur the one of the guys who got scammed.
They made some kind of old model of cards and named them Rev C.
Ur not the only one, there are bunch of peps that got scammed like that.
It seems u need a new card.

That could be possible definitely. The card worked fine before the update. I also ordered it from one of the resellers listed on http://www.r4ids.cn/buy-r4i-e.htm so I would hope they sold me a legit one.

That is a legit r4ids.cn card but like Rydian said the team got lazy and engraved C on the card just to sell it.
But the truth is that the card is not Rev C, its one of the older models.

Drat. That sucks. I guess I'll just wait for a new patch. I'm impressed at how quickly I get responses on this forum

In the end, the card does not work on the latest firmware and he needs a new one for the 3DS.
Maybe u can post its photo here?
There's many card named r4 with many revisions. But a photo can help someone trying to understand your problem.
In fact i'm using an old r4i-sdhc. So I'll never update my 3ds unless it's hacked, or when i get a 3ds game.

I'd go with the DSTwo man. Got mine in 8 days with free shipping. Can't wait to play me some TWEWY and 358/2 days :)

EDIT: Also FF4 and Chrono Trigger.

Which would look WAY BETTER on ios. too bad I don't have my ipod anymore... (I lost it and some jackass didn't return it to me)

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.

I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
