Nope, Dont use bootmii either! Lol.
You really should use at least one of them, unless you don't mind buying a new wii when yours bricks.

Firmware updater takes forever.
By the time ive got to 4.0, 4.1 will have been released!
Oh, wait...

Make sure you have a newer cIOS installed and then update with the official updater then use the IOS Downgrader and you will have 4.0 with trucha bug

btw..for the future, check Wiimposter not Wiimpersonator. I have it set up to update much more often and it also gives slightly better reports -- it even was the first thing to find 4.1 (before Wiimpersonator)...just take note that the logs from yesterday on EUR, USA, and KOR are because Nintendo updated the "size" feild of NUS (so it shows as it will take more space on NAND), but the system menu did not chnage.

Wiimposter is found here: http://xuzz.extremscorner.co.cc:8082/wiimposter/

I think it runs every half hour or something, Extrems would know for sure (he hosts it)

Thats awesome Ice! Nice job

So should this be installed or not? I'm currently on a 4.0j Wii that's soft modded. If yes, do I just update it from the bottom left button on the Wii channel?

You generally want to hold off on updating a softmodded Wii until it's known what effect the update has on homebrew. And even then, you may not want to update anyway. I can play new games on 3.2 just by updating the cIOS and loaders for it.

Do you have SDHC support on 3.2? That's the main reason why I updated to 4.0

I load most of my homebrew from a usb stick now. I have an SD card in case I need it for things that absolutely require an SD card though.

And I personally don't care for Nintendo's method of implementing wiiware from the sd card due to it copying it to the nand first. I await Waninkoko's method that's coming in cIOS rev14, which is much better than Nintendo's way IMO.

I just bought my Wii a couple of weeks ago, so it's an lu64, which means I haven't been able to install bootmii (the right way, anyway) and Preloader (trust me, I've looked). Basically, I'm running without any brick protection, which is OK I guess since I'm only running backups, nothing too sinister.

That said, does the 4.1 update stand a chance of corrupting anything on the Wii, or make a semi-brick and requiring the use boomii or Preloader? Because if it happens to me, I'm basically screwed....

You can install PreLoader with LU64. Search for WiiPower's Trucha Bug Restore and read that thread.

Wow, THANKS! I had no idea someone had found a workaround for this. Much appreciated!
