Just got my PS3 and saw that it's a CECH-2kA running on 4.55 OFW, so I found this http://www.eurasia.nu/shop/product_info.php?cPath=58&products_id=429 but im hearing rumors that it doesn't work on 4.55, if so could anyone please tell me where I can buy a 3k3y or a e3 flasher in uk, also if I get an e3 flasher will I have to solder it on my PS3, because I want a solderless option.

It's cheap and I don't have a lot of money to spend :/

What about the E3, I'm also thinking of getting an E3 because it's the cheapest, will I have to solder anything on my PS3 model?

i'm not too sure about the 2k, for 3k and 4k you will need to solder, i have a feeling 2k might be solderless?
have a look for reviews etc :)
you'll have to use swap disks regardless, can your console be downgraded, or is it just a little too new?

What's a swap disk? Sorry I'm new to this. And I've read around, the console should be downgradable.
 
If it's a 2001A, just find someone local to downgrade it for you. Usually anywhere between 45-70.

It's not worth getting an ODE anyways. 4.55 to 4.65 had massive problems with ODE's being blocked and the only workaround was a goofy swap disc method. Now the 4.65 work around is a swap disc for the swap disc and requires newer hardware. Definitely not worth the investment in an ODE device.

Downgrade the console and load up CFW. Infinitely better anyways.

To answer your question, the swap disc method was basically to put in a burned CD made from Cobra tools that would authenticate in the PS3, then require ejecting and put in your burned disc (or ISO) that you wanted to play. The 4.65 method requires 2 swap discs + original/ISO.

You'll be much happier with CFW and can do so much more for half the cost.

Van't really find any people who'd jailbreak/downgrade for me in my city, so I'll buy an E3 flasher then, any suggestions on where I could buy it cheapest in the UK? I found this so far: http://shop.01media.com/info.asp?IDorSKU=0&productID=38815

Do you think that would be a good place to buy from?
 
No idea as I'm in the US.

Though check out PSX scene forums. Good PS3 forum and there's a thread for downgrading with a list of people in the UK who will downgrade for a small cost. Very good people over there. Probably more help than you'd get here.

E3 is a good unit, but suggest you read the tutorials many times and check your dumps, less you end up with a brick.
 
why did you buy the flasher, instead of sending it to someone to do for you?
or, you want to do this more than once?
 
Because the flasher was actually cheaper than sending it to someone to do it for me, the closest service to me costs £30.00 plus the cost for sending the ps3 would be around £19 so I just went for the flasher, because I read that you can dual boot your PS3 if you use the flasher, am I right?

i'm not sure how easy it is to 'dual boot', sure it's possible if you can just reflash your ps3 when you want, but i'm not sure how easy it is :)
i hope you looked at some tutorials before you bought it :)

I'm also thinking about playing some GTA Online when I cfw my ps3, what's the best stealth way to play PSN and not get banned, at least not get banned fast? Please don't tell me that I will/might get banned any way I try, because I know that and I'd like a way to extend my life on psn :)
