Hello everyone I am having a strange problem with my 3DS XL.

I recently hard modded my 3DS to unbrick it ( Raspberry Pi method) , was successful in doing so and everything is working fine except for the headphones.
Having plugged the headphones in while the console is open the sound still plays through the speakers even though they are pushed frmly into the headphone jack, twisting the jack makes no difference.
However if I close the console then open it up while the headphones are plugged in, the sound will be on the headphones but its very quiet can barely hear it.

Has anyone had this problem before and know if it can be fixed?
Additionally I have not damaged the MB or the headphone jack area whilst soldering the HW mod.

thanks for reading.

Did you try using a different pair of headphones? Does your headphone jack have 4 segments? If so, try using another pair that has 3 segments on the jack.

Also, don't use headphones that came with a phone. The earphones from my older Sony phone looked like a regular pair but didn't work with any of my other devices (PC, 3DS, etc.). I guess the polarity on the jack was changed.

What if you apply a bit of pressure on the 3DS casing around the headphones input? Try pinching the 3DS above and below the input.

Also try inserting the jack slowly and check if there is any sound when it is 50-80% in.
