This is an explorer extension that shows covers for .3ds files, along with some moderately useful information below in the properties view.

https://mega.nz/#F!1B9BlbaI!srJg5nTE_qaxJyHDIU9GhA

Older downloads: http://no-info.no-ip.info/3ds/

Source code is also included for those of you too paranoid to run random executables.

3DS database wiki: http://no-info.no-ip.info/3ds/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
A bot crawls the wiki and produces an updated database of games, downloadable from here: http://no-info.no-ip.info/3ds/database/
If you make changes to wiki (editing metadata, adding games or pictures) you can expect the bot to produce new database file in about 15 minutes.

Enjoy.

Looks good! Going to wait for a confirmation of it being virus-free first.

well, I'll just copy a part of included README.txt file:

Code:
INSTALLATION

Run install.bat to install (double-click it). That should be it.
Make sure you install a version that fits your system: x64 for 64-bit
systems, and x32 for 32-bit systems. You can also uninstall the extension
with uninstall.bat.

i remember using something that made nds file icon the game icon. but it seemed to never want to close the file so if i ever try to rename/move/delete the file i kept getting a file open in another process error. does this one do the same thing?

KazoWAR: no, it lets you rename/move/delete files just fine.
Zidapi: no, I possibly will in future.
kutteke: yes; I'll see what I can do in next version.

It didn't install for when clicking the "install.bat". It opened up the command prompt and failed.

The Module "C:/Users/(My_User_name)/Desktop/3DS-SH~1/3ds-shell-x64.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specific path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files
