Hardware 3DS Update coming...

Apparently, the 3DS will be getting an update on May. The major update is that the browser will be 'Netfront' instead of using 'Opera'.
I also suspect alongside the firmware update, nintendo coming up with something to block all the flashcarts running on the 3DS.

The flashcart "blocking" will be just as easily circumvented it was already - there's no protection over that which exists in the DSi.

As for the browser, that is much more interesting, as Nintendo are marketing the 3DS as a competitor to Apple's iOS devices - and with a proper mobile internet browser, user experience of the internet will be comparable to that of almost any smartphone.

This is really old news. Not only will the update include the Internet Browser, but also the 3DS Shop, 3DS Virtual Console, and DSi transfer.

No, the DSi only used 1 method to keep carts blocked. It was basically just a blacklist. Nintendo needs a way to actually determine if a cart is/wants to load something besides what the original cart does.
How this would be done, I couldn't say, considering I've little knowledge of how the DSi hacks work beyond changing the header data to read differently if read in the opposite order. (I can't phrase this properly at all. You know what I mean if you've read the HackMii article though.)

Back to the 3DS:
I think the 3DS could use CRC32 (or some other data verification protocol) checks to ensure the gamedata hasn't been tampered with. This would work on a database principle. Each 3DS cartridge's header (which would be the info used to locate a game in the DB) and CRC32 data don't match what's in the database, the game doesn't boot. This basically prevents flashcart companies from flashing their carts(redundant) into older games.

But if a game's header isn't in the database, it still loads the game because the 3DS couldn't possibly update it's database daily for every game that comes out.

Of course, this would be just one counter-measure.

Nintendo's smart....In A little bit of time...all the found exploits will be just a google search away.....If the 3DS does auto-update like its believed to...then why can't they just block the exploits as they come...

So I don't want to see flashcards on the 3DS, not this early. I want to see the 3DS have chance and see flashcards much later in it's life when it's worth hacking.

True, but as I said some people aren't going to stop there. It's better to hold onto your DS(i) and just let the 3DS run it's course for a few years, then hack it. It's cheaper and easier to do and doesn't look that bad on Nintendo's end, plus there will be games worth getting and more than likely all the updates will be finished.

I have faith Nintendo, but I little faith in people. I want see their system succeed and honestly an early hack of any sort never looks good for any gaming company.
I mean always keep a back up system like an old DS Lite or DSi so you can use your flashcards instead of fighting with Nintendo with every update.
