No matter how many times I tried to force erase it never erased since DAT0 was "not soldered".

I just soldered to the correct pad and get a "MMC is not locked." now.

I'll finish unbricking it and greet you with a fine "national" art, if you know what I mean (step 18 rulez)

If bkifft doesn't want it, can I have the fine national art, pls?

mmmm Woon je toevallig ergens in de buurt van haarlem?
Dan buurt ik ff langs... ;)
Gaat denk ik niet lukken met mijn boardje.

the nice thing about Dutch: when I squint my eyes i can read your gobbledygook (something about if he lives in the haarlem area as your board doesn't work).

but you might want to add an English translation nevertheless, boardrules.

The nice thing about digital files: you can replicate them as often as you like. So let's just share.

edit: mvmiranda you might want to add an english translation, too.

hey, this is weird...
I reduced the wires so I could fit the connector inside the case...
so I removed wire by wire and resoldered a malleable one, paying attention to the correct spot where to solder (that's why I did one by one), but now when I plug the SD cable (the same one I unbricked it) and power the console it boots normally, like nothing is plugged.

I disassembled it over again and checked CLK and it's still soldered (I hot glued it with a little dab)...

what'w could be wrong?

so: you had an external clock signal (by plugging it in an SD reader or the running pi) before powering up and it booted without a bluescreen?

nope!
All I did was to plug the SD cable and power the 3ds.
I have a XL and when I do this, it enters blue screen...

The normal 3DS is different?

someone who has actually done the HW mod would have to answer that, it was my impression that the presence of an external clock stops the regular boot.

Interesting...
As I said, I have a 3DS XL and the simple act of plugging the SD cable (it's just a Micro SD to SD adapter with wires and a connector) and powering it on gives me the blue screen.
Now with this normal 3DS I have to plug the cable to 3DS and to my SD to USB adapter to make it blue screen...

Indeed interesting... funny part was when I disassembled it completely again to check the got damn CLK wire... crap! Second though, it wasn't that funny!

Do you remember what eMMC chip is in the normal 3ds and in the 3ds XL ?

Is there a difference in error codes of gateway bricks vs clone bricks? And if so, does this method work on both?

I hate ordering stuff online if I can go buy it somewhere close to me, and everywhere anymore will give you a discount only if you order it online, bs. Should be a discount if I go pick it up, not order online.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I love it for most things most stores you just shows the receipt online and they scan it

Makes it easy for incompetent restaurant staff that don't know how to hear an order
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Mostly for big purchases, I want it in my hands before I pay. Like a tv, I trust picking it up myself, before I'd trust it being sent thru mail/delivery. (Broken screen, etc) But yea if I can order online, then pickup at store is ok, but not all places offer that.

Thing is, if you break it driving back to your house, it's your fault. But if the delivery driver damages it, it's not your fault.

Most people that haul big tvs have empty trucks or know enough not to set it face down
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Then I gotta send it back and wait another week or two. I have a pickup truck, with a extended cab, so no prob for me.
