I've got an N3DS that's on its last legs, and i'm looking for a new one. I've got everything backed up, but out of curiosity:

Can I transfer an entire NAND image between systems? To restore my crap, can I just restore a full NAND backup and carry over the same SD card or do I have to manually reinstall all the CIAs and reimport all my saves through Checkpoint? (As it stands, I could do either, I have both full file dumps and NAND dumps and decrypted saves and rebuilt CIAs. I'd just prefer to restore a NAND image and be on my way.)

I believe not. The first reason I can think of is that there are different manufacturers even between the same type of 3ds'es (think Toshiba, Samsung, Kingston etc. I can't remember the exact names). But even if you by luck find the same storage on the new 3ds, then there are most likely other hardware/software differences that make it impossible.

I figured as such, as there's unique keys and such and I dunno if those are overwritten by the restore process (or if it'd break anything if it did.)
