thank you for starting a list for 3DS :)

here are some other titles (I didn't test them, so I don't always know which genre they are, please verify before trusting me)

Crimson shroud (role playing board game simulation, so .. strategy I guess)
code name : steam (Tactical)
Tales Of The World : Reve Unitia (tactical RPG)
Mario & Luigi : Dream team (turn base)
heroes of ruin (Diablo like, so Action?)
Dragon Crystal (VC GameGear, action?)
Labyrinth no kanata (Beyond the labyrinth, Japanese only, but it has an english translation patch) (Turn base battles, exploring a labyrinth like etrian odyssey)
Lost heroes (turn base? japanese only?)
Added
Attack of the Friday Monsters (adventure novel ? card games?)

yeah, I fixed that. I checked a video and it's looks more like Tactical RPG.
I said I didn't know each genre, I only had a list of titles and never seen the games. Usually Tales of games are Turn based (even if you can attack freely in battle mode, it's not action like zelda) so I thought it was the same.

edit:
oops, I thought you talked about tales of the world :P

I would add "legend of legacy" - traditional turn based and "Conception II children of the seven stars".

Cool idea!

You could add another category: Roguelikes/Roguelites.

Games on the 3DS so far:

Binding of Isaac
Quest of Dungeons
Etrian Mystery Dungeon

Dragon Crystal (VC GG. Should we count those?)

Hopefully the 3DS will be just as cool as the PSViTA one day. The PSViTA has 10+ Roguelikes/Roguelites! :)

I highly suggest separating the 1st person crawlers from the traditional turnbased ones.

Should we add the DSi ware games available on the 3DS too?

Also, addressing the game mentioned by pokem: should unreleased games be added?

no, because it's not an RPG, but some users will argue that it is, etc.
nobody can agree with what RPG is :P

To me RPG = you win exp or improve your player by killing monsters or completing missions.
Zelda is action, but action only. You can kill as many enemy you want, it will not make you stronger.
some games have exp/leveling, but the battles are "active" (like in zelda), ex: kingdom hearts

We can create a "Pure Action games" (with a story, not beat'em ups) category.
I let Bortz decide that :P

What about the following games:

1st Person Dungeon Crawlers
Etrian Odyssey 5: Beyond The Legend (TBA)
Beyond the Labyrinth - It has an English Translation, but is a bit difficult to play.

Monster Collection:
Moco Moco Friends (Yes, I plan on playing this girly game)
Yo-Kai Watch 3 Tempura & Sushi (Japanese Only so far, TBA in the west)

Action
Code of Princess (Could also be classified as a Beat 'em Up)
Maple Story: The Girl of Destiny (Has a 55.58% English Patch last time I checked, cool game)

Also Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King is confirmed by Nintendo of America to release on January 20th, 2017-most likely with the added "bonus" of awesome edited content by Nintendo Treehouse. Hopefully there's a restoration patch if this is the case.

MH stories Monster collect & action (JP), sim life rpg no fighting with monsters HM/SoS series Style boutique, ACNL & ACHHD, Atelier Rorona (JP), Digimon World monster collect & turn based (JP). Card fight Vanguard series & Future fight buddyfight card collection rpg. There're way too much games!xD

To me RPG means a role playing game, so pretty much any game that makes you play a certain role with often a customizable character, there doesn't have to be fighting in it. It's a very broad genre tbh.

Games like Zelda are often seen as rpg because they're games puzzle, action, mystery & rpg elements iow. you play as Zelda it's a game with a story, you can even argue that all games with an active story can be called rpg's as the let you play from a certain viewpoint. In short in a rpg you are somebody that often makes a difference or for example often go on a adventure that's what makes them a rpg.

Don't forget that the list contains "Monster Hunter" which in my opinion fits in what you are saying. Killing monsters won't make your character stronger in this game, but I think we can all agree that MH is part of the RPGs. The character can get stronger only using better gear, and by the player himself getting better.

In TLoZ, the character can get stronger by itself by acquiring Hearts (life), and the gear is important too.
