You and the other bloke that quoted me left out the other half of my post where I said 3DS will obviously be a far superior gaming device.
I was really just calling you out for saying the iPhone has cutting edge technology when in reality it lags behind a lot of smart phones. Regardless, I still agree with you since software has always been the selling point for both.

Oh well, it might as well disable the touch screen, because as another user said, greasy dirty fingers will kill the effect.
Grease and dirt won't "kill the effect" because the screen is still perfectly visible through grease. If fingerprints really obscured the screen that much, we would have heard about it already. And he wasn't talking about grease, he was talking about fingers blocking the view. (We've been over that already.)

QUOTE(Puppy_Washer @ Oct 19 2010, 12:50 AM) And, as a gaming machine, the iPhone doesn't even have legs.
Irrelevant. Is the iPhone more powerful than the 3DS in terms of processing power? Yes. Stop dragging games into it.

This whole thread is pointless.

Here, lemme post the supercomputer again:

It's more powerful than the 3DS. What does that mean in terms of gaming? Absolutely nothing. Give it a rest.

Even that supercomputer "can" handle gaming, but it wasn't "designed" to. Something that is designed to run a specific type of program will run it with using less resources than something else that isn't designed to run the same type of program. Like with the supercomputer, the iPhone "can" handle gaming, but it wasn't "designed" for that specific purpose in mind. If it were designed for gaming, then it wouldn't need such high specs.

"DS less powerful than N64"

WHAT?!?

(j/k, power mean nothing with video game...)

QFT. Thank you for saying this so that i didn't have to.
Thank you for postcount whoring so that I didn't have to.

Ontopic: shut yer traps and listen to Veho.
Uh huh. I read the post comparing the PS3 and 3DS GPUs by megahertz, and was about to make a post to the same effect of trumpet-205's, when I read his. So I did a QFT instead.

And thanks for postcount whoring so that you didn't have to? You didn't have to, but you did anyway. Saying "Listen to Veho" is just about exactly the same as "QFT, trumpet-205."

Actually, the iPhone more powerful than it in only one way. Raw hardware power. And given the respective graphics chips of the two, even that is debatable.

And it's less powerful than it in many, many much more practical ways.

Now GTFO troll. You can't "end thread" anyway. Even mods usually have to lock a thread before it'll end.

He has 1 post, his name is iOS4 and he made a troll post praising the iPhone.

Ya think he signed up to troll?

So I rewatched some trailers for 3DS games, spurred on by this thread and the Level-5 Event in Japan, and I came to the conclusion... Who cares if the iPhone is stronger than the 3DS? The only games that sell on it in any real amount are the 59p flash games, so you can keep your Angry Birds and your Doodle Jumps if you really want to. The iPhone's game market is so cheap that the mere idea of paying £30 for a game on the damn thing would give 99% of its userbase a hernia. The only actual "games" on the iPhone are lazy ports from other consoles anyway, so what would you rather play video games on? The "console" that got a half-arsed port of the first Phoenix Wright game four years after the DS version came out, or the console that's getting Phoenix Wright vs. Professor Layton sometime next year?

I don't really care if the iPhone is a more powerful device any more. It's not like it'll have the same quality of games, which is all that really matters. If I want a powerhouse of a gaming device, graphically speaking, I'll wait for the PSP2. At least then the hardware won't be wasted on stuff barely more technical than flash games.

Sonic 4 deserves to be released on the 3DS and I have a feeling it very well could and would be more impressive than the iPhone version.

The Atari Jaguar, or the 3DO or the NeoGeo all of them more powerful then the SNES... If you could pick between them and all the games each of them had...

Which one would you choose?

It's as simple as that.

Now to be honest I would love a 3DO or Jaguar or a NeoGeo, but if you told me I had to give up my SNES for one... I would promptly give you the finger. I am a collector of old systems and all three of those are still not in my collection

Someday I will have them.

but...but...guys....teh iphonz has moar mhz's
yay.gif

nah but seriously the two have hardware sufficient for what they do and the things they are meant to do are quite different
you really can't compare them the way you would compare a ps3 and a xbox 360....or say a phone4 to a Samsung galaxy S

stop trying, the iphone will always be better at being a smartphone and the 3ds will always be better at being a gaming console
