(Might have been posted before but..)

I keep seeing all these threads about flashcart this and flashcart that... But what I'd really love to see if it was possible to have a solution like the wii and psp where the system firmware iteslf is modified

I noticed the 3ds is more similar to the wii than it is to the old ds, but I dont know if it uses the cart to save data or if it can access info on the 2gb sd card that is bundled with it. Or maybe an idea like this

In my opinion I prefer such a way since its cheaper to buy sd cards than micro sd and I like the idea of modding the look and feel of the 3ds menu and always having hacks present on the system.

What are your thoughts on such a hack? Do you think its possible at all? Would you prefer it?

these kids...
they want everything free
either pay nintendo or the flashcart companies
dont fight a two front war

Oh it's not about saving a couple of bucks by not paying the flashcart companies... It's more about being able to do stuff such as putting custom channels on the 3ds/ changing or skinning the system etc. In flashcarts all your homebrew apps and other things were trapped on the card itself

@Rydian: Would the flashcart companies really do that? How can they even stop it besides making all users update firmware :S

Of course, they care nothing about anything other than money. They only want people to buy their flashcards. They could try to buy off anyone with any possible hacks etc.

Oh right! That too

But if the 3ds flashcarts allow you to put custom channels and actually change stuff up I guess it would be fine then.
Maybe it will be dependent on the flashcart somehow... ( ???)

lets clear this up
what you want is custom firmware similar to what happened to psp rather then a homebrew channel
aka, useing channals to start homebrew and having the ability to customize
problem is that the only way this would be possible is to get the 3ds firmware and edit it and reinstate it
we have loads of trouble getting a hold on the fw and then even more problems trying to edit it

Possible, but look what happened to the dsi it never got any hombrew channel did it

No, but it did get entry through a save game exploit, just like the Wii did. And if you'll recall, when the Wii was first hacked there was no homebrew channel, you had to do everything through the game exploit. There definitely will be a software exploit at SOME point, and definitely something like the homebrew channel someday on it. I dont think it'll be as easy as the Wii because the game saves would be stored on the carts and not transferable through SD, or maybe you'll need to buy a 3DS flashcart for the initial install. But it WILL happen.

Also, consider that the DSi was an incremental upgrade over the older DS, so there wasn't a lot of interest.

A full custom firmware is a bit of a stretch, though.

yes
this is because, unlike psp, the only way to get firmware is on the system
psp fw could be downloaded
it handed hackers the fw to hack up
nintendo is smarter than that

The data the 3DS receives can be intercepted through a router, and we'll be at the same point.

You one of those nigs who think it's a supercool idea to fix up a router to change dns and all other kinds of crap to do a simple thing like put files together in the way you want?

Does anyone here have the knowledge to write a stack based buffer overflow exploit and have enough knowledge about the 3DS architecture, OS and signing to create an exploit?

No??? Then stop saying stupid shit. You kiddies have no real hacking knowlege whatsoever. You're just tools that think that you should be able to get everything for free and that you're so pro for "hacking" your system.

Of course an software exploit > hardware exploit for users.

I want to ask, if anyone or anyteam is working on an exploit to create the 3DS Homebrewchannel. I´m wondering, that nobody has written in this thread since the §DS was released.
PS: It would be great, if the Homebrewchannel can be play homebrew, but no commercially games. I hate piracy and I hate flashcards.

People haven't written in this thread because there's other threads about this.

In fact, this thread is in a forum section dedicated to this.

Most people (kiddys) ask for help or runnung 3DS games from the shit flashcards. I can´t finde any meaningful thread, where the people are even close talking about homebrew, homebrewchannel, hacking, or something like that.

The thing is people know jack crap about the system so far.

With something like the Wii people have all sorts of tools and know-how of the system and know where to begin looking for vulnerabilities, and have the tools to code stuff for them.

Not so with the 3DS.

There is no 3ds homebrew that is compatible with 3ds currently WITHOUT R4 3DS (or whatever it's called). If you need help with this it will cost you a heck load of money to do it. If you want this possible you have to email / talk to Nintendo or a flash cart company that makes hacks for Nintendo. You will have to pay the WHO KNOWS HOW MUCH!! Sorry, but for right now, be patient. By the way they actually have an undergoing link: http://3dshomebrewchannel.com/

(though it has crap on it) :( :( :( :(
