Hardware 3ds hinge/power off problem.

Hello everyone my sister has an old3ds for a while now.. But today i got this hinge problem: If I open the 3ds too much (until the first click) it just turns off and makes this *pop* sound. I also can't turn it on with the hinge open, or it will just make the *pop* sound and stop. At first I thought it is the battery, since it was swollen for a while, but then it went back to normal. But then I remembered that my sister dropped it at the ground yesterday. Is it that? Can you fix it?
