rather than keys, is the encryption/decryption algorhythm, figuring it out, you could GAIN access to restricted areas. since nowadays keys are quite lenghty (thanks to 3rd party crypto researchers like RSA), the base function to build such key (which will be later decrypted through a software thread, running in the cpu) is the "heart" of all this unlocking, hacking process.

...

I think you accidentally something in your sentence.

Pro-piracy people want the hack for playing warez
Anti-piracy people want the hack for unlocking the region lock
Anti-piracy hipocrites want the hack for playing emulators

Apparently only a few want the hack for actual homebrew which is the main reason the hackers are trying to hack 3DS. Not for region lock, not for emulators, not for Warez... mostly for homebrew

I want the hack for all four, plus (and perhaps more importantly) system tweaks. My 3DS is going to be so ashamed after the amount of violation it's in for once this hack is released.

How is wanting emulators on the 3DS being a hypocrite? You do realise that emulators aren't illegal in any way?

Most people don't use emulators for legitimate purposes. Emulators are legal, downloading ROMs that are prohibited from copying by the copyright holder is not legal in most countries (regardless of how you want to justify it).

Although an Emulator made from scratch, is technically homebrew, while emulating anything is technically illegal, there isn't any legal punishment that I have any knowledge of. Here's a link that explains quite well: http://www.epinions.com/content_1645453444

Regarding my own point of views regarding those points:

-I want a hack to remove region lock, since some games don't always reach Europe/America (I don't enough money that I can afford to buy a game that I can't understand, so I won't buy a Japanese one unless there's a translation patch available);

-While I don't really pirate nowadays, since I enjoy having physical copies of games and adding them to my collection, I do however sometimes play a game which I don't own. I mostly do it for fan translated games, a game that was released first in another region (ie Harvest Moon, get's an EU release more than 6 months after the US one) which I plan to buy once it reaches my own or in some cases to check out if a game is worth it (if I play for more than an hour, then I usually end up buying it since it means I enjoyed it enough);

-Emulation, I often use it, I love SNES games, however most of my fave games had never been released in English, it's probably the console with the most translated tittles, in some cases emulation also allows you to run homebrew games since it could be homebrew for a specified console, like for GBA, unless you had a GBA emulator you wouldn't be able to run it, so in those cases, the hypocrisy you said, wouldn't exist to begin with. z.z

And I'm pretty sure the emulation capabilities of the 3DS are also a big factor in why some hackers are trying to hack it, the PSP was quite successful with emulation, the 3DS should be capable of much more. z.z

According to Nintendo's website, emulators ARE illegal

I will buy a 3ds when it gets region unlocked, simple as that, there are plenty of good Japanese games, that simply are never localized. I personally don't care if ROM's work or not, it'd be nice, but its not a priority. I have bought plenty of games for my Vita, and love that it is region free, I will do the same once the 3ds becomes region free.

I disagree, there are plenty of handheld devices that can use emulators without any need for hacking, there are even devices more powerful than the 3DS itself for that

Why do they want to hack the 3DS? Considering their work is not for profit, it can only be to take advantage of the 3DS hardware like two screen, cameras, 3D, microphone, gyroscope, wi-fi... There's just so much you can do with the hardware.

Nintendo could filter out cheaters from online play, the way MMO devs detect cheating/bots/whatever.

And pirating is probably the only way to actually try out a game before buying, as demos are few and far between, and paying up to 60 bucks for a game which might be only 4-5 hours long or have absolutely atrocious controls (neither of which can be deduced from a trailer) is a gambit for people in coutries less fortunate financially. In Hungary, average salary is around 80-100.000 HUF a month, while a game costs 10-15.000 HUF. 1/10-th to 1/6th of a monthly salary. Which might be too big a gamble for a game that might be borderline unplayable or seriously lacking content.

And consoles don't have steam sales :(

That's what reviews and boards are made for! But I can't disagree with you, you can just not enjoy a game even if it's supposed to be the best game ever.

Yup, I'd give all my monies. I can't even imagine winter sales on 3DS. All those little 5€ (or $ whatever) games for 1,25 :wub: ... Give it achievements and in-game chat, I'm sure a lot of pirates would buy games. (see Steam... I used to pirate PC games until they got me. I'm weak, I know.)

But do you think that they want an emulator to run SNES homebrew, or Super Mario World?
i do ,but in 3d , i want homebrew emulators because im tiered of waiting for cheap ass nintendo to get off their lazy asses and put out 3d VC titles like 3d nes and snes games
