For people who think this is a step backwards and complaining about softmod or 3DS mode.
Come down! It better than nothing. For some of you pirates at least buy some 3DS games.... gosh

nobody's complaining here; rather remarking on the fact that this is nothing to get too excited about, as shortly every (reflashable) DSi cart will support it, and that the more interesting exploits will come later on as the 3DS is launched in other countries.

the Acekard Team has replied to my email saying that they have managed to run the Acekard 2i on the 3DS.
They said they need more testing before they can release anything though.

Awesome news, with a little chance, every DSi flashcarts will be ready to Boot on 3DS for the euro/us/aus release.

it won't be truly impressive until they're running 3DS games on flash cards. Still major accomplishment running DS games
biggrin.gif
. Hopefully it won't be like the DSi where the enhanced hardware was locked down for agessss

guess ill ditch buying a DSi for now, ill pick up a 3DS after all

i wonder if DSi aspects of the the games work i.e. the camera in pokemon for example.
that relies upon DSiMode working, which is what is currently being worked on behind the scenes. Initially you won't be able to use DSiMode features, but it won't be any different to what you'd get if you had a DSi.

hmm thought so

at any rate, its time to invest in a DSi-able flashcart either way.

- to be quite honest, for a second i thought that 3DS games were getting dumped as well.

Hell, if R4iDSN were able to do it, I'm sure just about every flashcart team can do it.

Question is, do you need to buy anything new or if it's just a matter of reflashing.

I'm sure it will only need reflashing... but expect thousand of thousand of "R4 Ultra Hyper Pro Big Mac Tripple cheese 3DS Revolution" to arrive on market soon... and people will buy them.

It's probably going to be along the lines of Sony's bag of tricks. You go online we ban-hammer you!!! The first page nails it w/ the auto-updates/wifi.

So much for the online gaming and Nintendo anyway...

Indeed, it's not at all different from prior DSi hacks, any team could have achieved it, it's just that the R4iDSN team were the quickest (and for the ootb thinking, they deserve credit)
If your current cart is reflashable, and supports the DSi, you won't have to buy anything. Although this will only support DS games.

This is DS mode on the 3DS, not 3DSmode - which is what THQ were referring to. On that front, actual effort will be required.
Although there is no telling what Nintendo will do when 3DSmode is actually hacked.

A little comic I made about what is happening right now (not from me, I just edited two bubbles).

Feel Free to enhance it.
Yet again, this is only for DS games, where there was no additional protection. 3DS games are where the protection is.

1. Nintendo are too dumb to ban people online.
2. Nintendo hardly make updates...
