Hacking 3DS flashcard help

I just got my new 3DS XL and I already have the R4 SDHC 3DS DSi Dual-Core NEW. I bought it in like 2012 or 2013 so it's pretty old. But it works fine on my DSi. Can I update it to work on my 3ds?
