Ahoy, I dug up my N3DSxl out of storage to have a mess around with it however upon charging and turning it on I'm getting the following error. It has previously been running on CFW, this error is occuring with and without the SD card in. Any idea on where to go from here?

This is an extremely common error. Your 3DS is not reading your SD card and is instead trying to boot an outdated version of Luma on your 3DS NAND.

Standard procedure is to copy everything off the SD card (use Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier just in case something is corrupted), format the card, test the empty card with h2testw, and then copy everything back again if the card is okay. See if that fixes the problem.

Thank you very much this worked a treat after replacing the Luma files.
