Version 1.6.2 is now available. This version adds a status bar which indicates the currently open file. The total number of modified bytes and bits are now also shown upon saving.

I found the save editor hard to use because the text is almost unreadable. I assume this is because my Windows is set to use dark mode (easier on the eyes) and the dark background is automatically applied in your editor's UI. The text remains black and black on dark is very hard to read.

Nope, it's because everything is blanked out until you open a save file. See the 'Open a save file to begin' text in bottom of the image (File -> Open).

Thank you so much for this tool.

I just have one question about character stats, when I increase my character's level do I have to manually increase the stats too?

Sorry for the late reply, I don't often check this thread nowadays. Speaking of which, if anyone does have any questions and wants an immediate response, best to message me on Reddit (there is a reddit post titled Dragon Quest VIII 3DS Save Editor).

Anyway, with regards to your question: If you click the 'Link' button on the character's tab, you'll find that as you change the level or experience values, the other will change accordingly to reflect the appropriate level or amount of experience (all of the level experience values are stored in the editor). However you also have the choice of leaving it unchecked, in which case you could do something like set your level low and your experience high. If you do that, you'll find you'll level up several times after a single battle. With stats such as health, strength and so forth, if I remember correctly, they are incremented upon a level up (rather than simply reflecting what level you're at). In which case, the best thing to do is what I previously mentioned: Set your experience to reflect the level you want to be, and leave your level value unchanged. Then after a single battle, your other stats will get updated accordingly. Hopefully that answers your question.

Sorry to bring up an old subject I've modded my 3ds and I'm in Port paradise and just learnt about the dlc can I load the editor onto my 3ds and add them or do I need to do it on my laptop and put the SD back into my 3 ds?

Thanks in advance if you see this.

You'll need to extract your save file and use the editor on a PC. Use Checkpoint to extract and reinsert the save file after editing.

So I'm using the new Azahar emulator and seem to running to index errors. Anyone still working on the old citra, are you running into problems or is it simply an issue of new emulator syndrome,
