I wuold say NGP seems pretty screwed when concerning battery life if this is the case for 3DS but then again NGP is huge so they should have a much larger battery for it....still though

The NGP has been confirmed to have about the same battery life as the PSP.

'Confirmed' by who?

As a matter of fact, by Sony themselves. We can trust them!

4 hours with max settings is pretty reasonable.
I always use minimum light regardless on my DSi so i'm used to it.
3D will likely remain off forever on my 3DS.

I highly doubt that last statement

Unless a game absolutely required 3D (and I really don't see how it would) I probably will never use it. 3D means nothing to me and if it just drains the batteries, well then it's staying off lol.

I dunno, I'd say it will "barely ever" be on for me. Probably like sometimes I get a new game I'll use it once for a few minutes or not at all.

Excellent, they have a fantastic track record of not over-egging their new systems by, for example, showing pre-rendered footage and claiming it as in-game, so I will take everything they say at face value.

people see 4 hrs as the end of the world :S.

4 hours is alot. compare that to the normal psp.

OBJECTION!

This is not over-egging but rather under-egging.
Sony has no reason in only saying the NGP's battery has 4 hours till death.

You do know just 3D alone isn't going to drain your batteries. It not like 3D off = infinite battery power.

It will definitely contribute to the saving power alot.

Good, then I can expect around 4.5 hours with second-to-highest brightness. Which is somehow better than my DS lite.

From what I've heard, turning off 3D will increase FPS, so turning off the 3D won't downclock the device. Which means that the battery won't have a longer life.

But I can not see how much sense it not compare to no 3D with brightest settings.

...I'm sorry, what? No offence, but I can't understand that sentence at all.

Hmm... I just remembered about the Active Backlight power-saving feature. They didn't mention whether or not this was turned on.

QUOTENGamer claims that the 3DS died after 4 hours with max 3D, brightness, no wireless

If 3D did drain that much battery, how do you know?

They are not comparing it to anything, like no 3D, brightness, no wireless.

Probably on. But I'm pretty sure I'll have it enabled all the time. If I'm playing a game, and the bottom screen is mostly/completely black, I'd like the backlight to automatically go down, at least for that period of time. I don't really see much of a drawback to having the Active Backlight on.

Thank you.

And I know, which isn't really fair. I believe they should do a comparison.

I don't see what the problem is supposed to be. My PSP lasts roughly three hours right now from a full charge, and that's always been plenty for me. It seems more important if the compartment requires screws like the DS. The PSP compartment snaps shut, allowing me to change out the battery if I need to.
