When I move the D-Pad up and to the left at the same time, it squeaks with a really annoying sound. Is this normal? It's new ,so maybe I just need to break it in or something?

Mine doesn't squeak and I honestly haven't used it much except for a few rounds of SSF4. You should have 30 days to return your 3ds, if after a week or two it doesn't seem to improve I'd suggest taking it back.

sometimes my dpad squeaks, sometimes it doesn't. probably just needs to be worn in.

Standard clicks for me as well, no squeeky on any D-Pad movement, or the ABXYLR buttons.

At first my d-pad was squeaky, but now it's not.
Actually if anything is squeaking, it's my thumb rubbing against the glossy surface.

Looking at it again.. Mine doesn't really squeak.. but the ABXY If I play at a certain angle it kinda squeaks.. but its getting worn in...

My D-Pad squeaks after playing some SSF4 (I play with the middle of my thumb not the tip). I just hope it gets worn in.

mine dont do that.yours is defected get exchange 3ds are comming defective some how. my hinge makes sound lil bit wobble but fine i cant complain games are bomb. i have madden/ridgeracer/andstreetfighter.

Do any of you know if I can just replace it in the store I bought it if it's defective? Or is it through Nintendo?
I think I'll wait a week to see if my D-Pad turns out to be good.

Edit: I bought it at K-Mart and no, no warranty.

guy who bought it at k-mart you get 90 days with recept to get exchange are money back k-mart is good about that... i bought mine at gamestop so i got 30 days for exchange only..

Mine creaks more than it sounds like squeaking. I figure it just needs to be worked in. My 360 controller analog used to squeak but a few months of blops and reach later it quit squeaking.

No weird sound from my d-pad either? Is it me or are too many people having problems with their 3DSs???

For me is after playing some SSF4... if I play with the tip of my thumb (which I don't) I THINK that I won't get the squeaky noise. I just like doing combos which take many inputs and require some banging on the D-Pad.

mine squeaks and creaks like hell once its warmed up playing SF4, not the greatest dpad imo guess ill return it for the extra points
