Can't you just point them towards TinyFormat?

It was the only thing I could come up with. Also, I've never used TinyFormat before, I normally only do the method I suggested. I'm not born knowing all these things.

its just a bad hex edit on the cia file
it does not matter the region but region free cia's (can) often have this problem because they were either edited poorly and or repacked improperly
download one from another source/website

umm did you see the post before and after the one you quoted. . . ? this was not the one to correct the . . . wait . . . oh . . . my bad costello (or another mod) removed the post he was replying to wherein some troll was suggesting the op formatted and never mentioned removing the sd card because he thought it would be funny

Sorry if I came across as condescending, NNIDs being broken by system settings unlinking is always a load of trouble to deal with.
