Homebrew 3ds backups help

Hi guys

Really sorry if it's been asked before as I'm sure it has, just can't find the answers myself

If I pick up a 3ds tomorrow can I easily add cfw etc to run back ups?

Or would I need one of these sky3ds carts or something like that?


Hoping it can be done with just a pc and memory card?


Any links would be appreciated
