According to #3dsdev, Govanify was given and/or stole pretty much everything interesting that he has, including this key. And I'd rather place my trust in the people who actually know what they are doing, than trusting someone who has been proven to be a thief (who then takes credit for the work).

Don't give any attention to this asshole, he does not deserve it. And he's just making the 3ds scene worse than it already is (even if it may seem as progress right now). Building the scene upon stolen leaks will only piss the real devs off, and in the end nobody gets anything.

Use the key, since the damage has already been done. But just FORGET the name Govanify, this is NOT his work. Don't help him get fame.
Only everytime...

Biggest respect to those people out there, but then just be the first to publish it.
There is probably a reason you didn't publicly want to take credit for it before, so why now?

you can decrypt the latest games from 7.x until now. from the pc? (in a near future? maybe?)
oh , i thought this is new hack for the 3DS or something
if that so , maybe they finally can decrypt X and Y and make new fan edited game like pokemon Z

these are not needed for X&Y that is possible with the normal decryption tool released ages ago......

Yeh I think we could at least use our retail gamecards with the patches on.

do you even lift read posts?
he didn't say he is the one who found them. and the reason to not publish them:

The way I see it, it makes it harder on us devs since once its public knowledge, GW and ninty hop on that and then it just hinders our work. :\

How does publishing a fixed key, that is known to exist, stand in the way of a possible progress anyway?
It's not like Nintendo suddenly knows how they obtained this key, and then patch the bug.
They will change it for newer games, yes. But they would have done that anyway.

If an exploit would have been published, they would have patched it, but there hasn't.
Even if a new key will be generated, most likely the used technique to obtain the keys will still exist.

The real reason not to publish it eludes me still.

Why don't they post? Simple. It boils down to unsubstantiated pusillanimity and so-called fears of being used for piracy.

... Referring to it being used for piracy, I assume?

I agree on that part.
Never mind. :)

Although, decrypting games is not gonna lead to that, methinks.

Edit1:
I see you've edited your post.

Edit2:
does it harm gw in any way?
No, and I think it will neither profit them, as they still cannot encrypt.
