I'm sorry, when you say "copy the update file to another working flashcard" do you mean another AK2i? It would make more sense to me if you meant another microSD card and put it back into the AK2i I'm trying to update.

Start the DSL version file of the AK2i update on one flash cart until it gets to the "press start to begin" screen, then take that cart out of the DS/Lite, put the AK2i in, and press start.

FYI, after that freezing at 35% I had to shut it off after waiting 30+ minutes. Upon restart I got two white screens.

I had an R4 lying around so used that to launch the fw update. I knew keeping this original R4 would come in handy some day.

No, if you only reformatted the SD you don't need to update it again.

always worth it to keep every form of old card you have because you never know when you'll need it again.
i still have slot 2 miniSD cards just in case.

So, just ran the update on my 3ds, worked flawlessly. I don't have access to a DSL anymore, and I have 2 old cards with the Dorasu icon on them, and I can't flash them. I know with a DSL you could flash multiple cards, but is that not the case with the 3ds updater?

You can't cart swap on a DSi/XL or 3DS.

your dsi will only prompt you to update if you visit the dsi-ware shop or use the internet browser. i keep the wifi on my xl connected most of the time and i am still on 1.4.1 (because i use the dsiwarehax, and i want the ability to add it again if required).

XD i was trying to update the 3.0 update and i update 2.0 instead of 3.0 by mistake and i just updated it and it works and i have the narnia icon
