    The chaos communication congress for this year kicks off in one week (27th December) give or take time zones and this year goes by 28c3. For those new to this the chaos computer club holds a hacker conference each year and over the years it has grown to be very big and now rivals the larger US conferences. Last year saw the fail0verflow PS3 presentation that kicked off proper homebrew for the console and previous years saw hello world for the wii and similarly detailed conferences on the wii itself.

    This year has a few conferences on the likes of the Atari 2600 and some of the demoscene but nothing is scheduled on modern console hacking (no word on lightning talks yet). Never the less several well known hackers of consoles have presentations, there looks to be a lot on mobile phone hacking and as always more detailed talks on methods and technologies (ab)used to hack the consoles are on the schedule to say nothing of things sure to be of interest to those that just enjoy learning about hacking and goings on in it (these conferences are some of the best places to learn about hacking concepts and techniques).

    For those that have not yet been around to see it as it happens there are set to be streams, text feeds and audio + slide shows if you want to see things live (do note some of the more popular conferences can tax the live bandwidth). Some hackerspaces around Europe (and one in Australia) have guaranteed bandwidth if you are near to one.
    On top of this the conferences are recorded and posted for download by anybody fairly quickly (usually a couple of hours afterwards) and those are later (a couple of days usually for all of them) uploaded to popular video sites.
    There general layout for the presentations is three rooms (known as Saal) each having conferences more of less throughout the day (there probably will be some conflicts depending upon your interests but they usually do fairly well), do note that a handful of the presentations are not conducted in English (usually German) but that information should be available on the schedule/Fahrplan.
    Also note any times listed are most likely to be Berlin time aka Central European time (UTC+1) so account for this if you want to see it live.

    Let's see what this year brings forth.. Also gotta love to see about the speculation regarding certain hacks and how people can misinterpret what can actually be done with said hack. Not saying I understand everything displayed during the conference, but what happens when people who have no idea about them start "inventing": "lol PS3 emulator now possible on Wii? LOL!" :creep:

    This.
    I read somewhere that failOverflow mentioned something about lot of things to talk about at 28c3 but idk if it was real or a troll. So there might be something again but it's best not to get your hopes up.

    You appear to be in central US time aka GMT-6, they are in Berlin aka GMT+1 so 7 hours difference.

    11:30am their time is the first presentation although all three rooms kick off (with the Atari 2600 talk in Saal 3) at 12:45pm or about 5:45am your time if I have not fluffed my time zone calculations up. The presentations get dumped into a nice FTP if you want to catch up later (they will appear on youtube and such before that long as well).

    I missed the Atari talk because I had slight problems flashing a 360 drive for a friend );
    I'll wait when it's up for grabs on the FTP.
