Plug it into your PC and run H2testw (you can find it on Google). It will probably take a while but it'll scan for errors on the card. If I had to guess though, you have a fake Micro SD.

Fake cards are usually made in such a way they display a larger capacity than they're capable of. Just run the test and you'll have your answer.

Are you trying to format it as FAT32 or exFAT? If FAT32, Microsoft added an artificial limitation starting with Windows 2000 that limits FAT32 partitions to 32 GB. (EDIT: Windows can read >32 GB FAT32, but it can't format it.)

A screenshot of Disk Management showing the SD card would be useful here.

EDIT: Also, why are you trying to format it in the first place? If it shows up as formatted 128 GB on the GS7, then it's most likely already formatted as exFAT.

What format is the SD in? This could cause it show less than expected... Or as expected you've got a fake card, id run the H2test and that should clear it up

See, now that doesn't make sense. I've got a 128GB MSD formatted to FAT32.. And I see no sign of this limitation. Granted I had to use a third party tool to do so...

The disk formatter has the limitation. The OS itself can read 128 GB, but you can't format it.

Windows wouldn't even let you format a 128GB card as Fat32. It forces you into exFat or NTFS. You'd have to use an external tool, such as MiniTool Partition Wizard to do it.

That makes more sense. Your wording was confusing.

    OP, you probably:
    1 - Got a bad SD reader
    2 - Got a fake microSD
    3 - Got a defective microSD

1st, try using you PC+SD reader, go to disk management, delete the partitions, assign the entirety of the card to only one partition, reformat.
If it's too hard or isn't working try using https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
It will also force format the SD card to use the entirety of it's space.
After doing it, use h2testw to test your SD card actual capacity.
If it fails the test, try using another reading device (using you smartphone may do the trick, however you'll need it to use it as a mass storage device to copy files through an USB cable), if it still fails, it's either a defective microSD or a fake one.

Believe, the probability of you getting a fake microSD is way high with anything above 32gb, even if you bought it in some physical retailer.

It was free. As long as it didn't corrupt your hardware in any way, you shouldn't be so upset.
