I'd expect them to actually visit the persons house, makes more sense, I mean, I get emails all the time saying I've won the lottery or something like that... Used to get heaps of telemarketers calling as well, never would listen to it if it was from email or phone, they'd have to show up at my door for me to believe.

If you bought the winning 10 billionth app, they'd know what it was, and be able to tell you that because of their records.

$10000 in itunes?? No thanks....I'll take 5 or 6 macbook pro's instead and then I'll transfer my already vast collection of music to them. I would've guessed it was a scam by telephone or email, so either way I wouldn't have believed it.

yes i wonder whether you can buy macbooks with itunes

just sell to plastic jungle and get about $9000 in cash which can be used for anything
