Minimum distance from sensor bar?
Minimum distance from sensor bar?
Hi everyone,
When setting up/using a Wii, do you have to maintain a minimum distance from the sensor bar for the Wiimote to work?
EDIT: I'm just gonna go with Selim873's answer until I can actually verify it.

THESE MEASUREMENTS ARE BASED ON WHERE THE WII REMOTE IS, NOT YOUR STANDING POSITION.
Minimum (from my experience); Merely 2.5 feet, around 76 centimeters
Recommended distance; 6 feet, around 1.8 meters
Maximum; Depends on the sensitivity level that's set. Max sensitivity can reach pretty far, but other sources of InfraRed light (like candles) can interfere.

The metric measurements should be pretty close to the U.S./British (Not sure) Imperial measurements, which is what I'm used to. I'm just trying to get this answered internationally to those who also have the same question. -
Usually I find that I have to stay at least a couple of feet away in order for it to work. It depends on your sensitivity setting.

Usually I'm 3 feet away, but sometimes I can get away with being closer because 1 or 2 of my ceiling lights gives off IR light.
