    Apparently there's a save-deleting bug in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, involving connecting to GO.

    I always knew GO was garbage, but it's also now a virus. Great job!

    Apparently, it might be an update issue rather than a GO issue, as it seems to happen just by people updating and downloading DLC.
    Either way, Game Freak has very much outdone themselves this time!

    I remember that years ago, third-party Switch docks were kinda dicey due to Nintendo *not quite* using the USB-C standard, and thus something about a voltage difference damaging consoles.

    Are third-party docks safer now? Kinda want a smaller one.

    I haven't had any problems with my JumpGate dock and I don't think there have been any brick reports. It's pretty nice since it also works as a USB-C hub/HDMI out/memory card reader for other devices such as laptops and smartphones, and can be used as a charging stand when HDMI is not plugged in. Truly a multipurpose device.

    I keep it in my Skull & Co GripCase pouch (which is a rather big pouch) since it fits, so I always have a dock with me, but you only really need the removable "core drive" part which contains all the guts, and that part is tiny and would fit in just about any pouch.

    Saw a trailer for the Super Mario movie whilst waiting for the Ant-Man movie (eh, it was just a movie; nothing special) to start.

    Might just watch Mario in April, now, alongside Spider-Man in June or something.

    Well, okay, sure. I pre-ordered a Galaxy S23 Ultra from JB Hi-Fi a few days ago, knowing it would release on the 17th - only for it to turn up today. Pre release. Never really pre-ordered before; is this normal?

    I haven't played Fire Emblem Awakening in years, and after the tedious, annoyingly-restrictive and first-half-repetitive Three Houses...phew, am I glad to be playing a GOOD Fire Emblem game again.

    Welp, my holidays are over, as of tomorrow morning...fuuuuck. Now I'll have to actually work instead of gaming, or creating personal ROM hacks for my Pokémon games.

    I'm feeling a little melancholy tonight; what was I doing at this point last year? I think I was quite nervous about a new job that started mid-Jan, and was trying to get through a Black Eagles FE:3H route too.

    Thing is, I was trying to level up all the characters I liked through using cheats for infinite action points (seriously, why artificially limit the player? Ugh) and doing random battles, which took up a lot of time...and that plus the above nerves meant I didn't want to waste any time at all.
    Looking back, I was so stupid.

    So Pokémon SV has no way of rematching Trainers at will, it seems, not even the Elite 4 and Champion.
    This is a downgrade from even RBY, since they at least had E4 rematches; geezus.

    How much more powerful than the Portable was the Vita? Could it theoretically run Persona 3/FES, a la the PS2?

    Emulated, no way, but I feel like it absolutely could have been ported--"HD" PS2 games were available on the Vita, let alone Persona 4 Golden, which afaik used a very similar, if not completely similar engine to FES.

    Yeah, I wasn't talking about emulation - I was asking if it could run P3 or P3FES "natively", if it had been released on the device.

    I had actually forgotten P4G used to be a Vita-exclusive game, actually, so it really could've run P3/FES.

    It's like with Super Mario 64 DS - if the devs/higher-ups had waited just one handheld generation later, they could've made something more familiar to the original, rather than needing to downgrade stuff (in SM64DS's case, it's the lack of analog controls; in P3's case it's, well, animated cutscenes and world traversal and stuff).

    I can live with Elden Ring getting Best RPG and GOTY; at least it's not freaking Horizon, or something else lame, and Xenoblade 3 really isn't the greatest game in the world (it's good, but nothing more).

    How does Terasterlisation (or whatever) work in Scarlet/Violet? Like, what determines a Pokemon's Tera Type? Is it like Hidden Power, in that it's 'random' but set for each individual?

    To be more specific every pokemon has a tera type but it will be one of their default types

    If you catch a glowing pokemon in the wild it will have one other than its default type - you can also catch these in raid battles

    In normal cases, it's their primary type. But raids and glowing Pokemon will usually have a different type. Although I don't really see the appeal to that, as they still need to be able to learn a powerful move of said type, which limits the options a lot.

    From what I can tell, @The Real Jdbye, Tera can also be used defensively - that Annihilape thing (Primeape evolution) can use it to become Water or Fairy to make it harder to KO by checks, especially since it retains its perfect-neutral-coverage Fighting/Ghost STAB.
    ...And yes, I did just watch the latest Freezai video, on Annihilape.

    If there's one videogame thing I hate above most everything else (that's not monetisation), it's nerfs. They rarely ever feel "good", as they by definition mean you once had something great that's now not as great.

    Is that hypothetical sword a Legendary drop with a minuscule drop chance, or an item gotten from defeating a superboss or completing an endgame quest? If it is either of those, then nothing wrong with it.
    Even if it isn't, if the game is primarily a singleplayer game, then its OPness shouldn't matter; the player can just choose not to use it.

    If it's a multiplayer game, then restrict its use to, say, a tier meant for OP stuff, or don't allow it in the wider random-player MP but only in games set up between friends, or something.
    Besides, there's a difference between a random weapon or armour being nerfed, and a supposedly-living being suddenly getting weaker for no given reason.

    It makes no sense for Aegislash or Zacian to suddenly lose some of their strength, just because they travelled (or hatched) overseas, and it makes no sense for moves or Abilities used by these 'living creatures' to be suddenly weaker either.

    I am not ashamed to say, I prefer Sticker Star to the first two Paper Mario games - why? No boring Peach segments, and the original level-up system SUCKED.

    I agree. Sticker Star is by far better than N64 and newer entries, but not as good as Thousand Year Door.

    Also... STICKERS GLARES WITH CONSOLE'S MOVEMENT!

    If the first two games allowed the player to skip the tedious and pointless Peach segments, and they used the same level-up system as Super Mario RPG (each stat increases, and you can select one to increase a bit more), then I'd consider them great games to play.
    As it stands, Super is by far the best, followed by Sticker Star.

    From a little poking it looks like it was named after Queen Victoria and remained as a static name since, rather than being tied to the current monarch in any way.
    That was an interesting question though, made me curious enough to look.
