Frankly, I'm surprised the style-creating team haven't added this in yet; it's been, what, months since the new style was brought in, yet still not in.
Fire Emblem tacticians...who would win, Robin (Awakening) or Claude (Three Houses)?

My actual name is Robin, so going with Robin
I still believe Super Mario 64 DS remains the pinnacle of 3D Mario, due to its almost-complete non-linearity and its total lack of frustrating/bullshit collectibles. Sunshine's crap, Galaxy doesn't come close, and Odyssey's decent but not as great.

Horrible controls though. That alone prevents me from considering it the definitive edition of SM64.

Honestly, SM64 hasn't aged well. It was the early days of 3D platformers and they hadn't perfected the formula yet and it shows. It controls fine, but the camera leaves a little to be desired. It's the level layout, half the stages seem like they're thrown together from random pieces they didn't find anywhere to put, the pieces don't fit together and don't follow a theme, and this especially shows in Rainbow Ride.

Still a good game, but far from a masterpiece. Banjo Kazooie is far superior.

I would love to see another Bravely game; the series always has great characters and gameplay, not to mention music.
So there's a BlazeBlack 2 Redux ROM hack now...hmm, nah, original's better, since it doesn't have the buggy Fairy type (not fully implemented) nor does it unnecessarily and unjustifiably nerf Steel. Nor does it replace moves with newer ones.

I generally don't like ROM hacks that do such things, as it ruins the feel of a Gen 3/4/5 ROM hack - if I wanted Fairy and was braindead enough to want nerfed Steel, I'd play the actual 3DS or Switch games. Not DS.

Also, I don't like how it replaces a bunch of so-called "useless" moves with newer ones - I like Spike Cannon and Luster Purge, thank you very much, just changed to be Ground or stronger respectively. Why remove Sacred Fire? Why lower PP counts a la Legends? Why implement Gen 6+ nerfed special moves?

So yeah, no thanks, you ruined the ROM hack. I'll stick with the original BlazeBlack 2.

What's the best way to preserve games - physical, or digital? Both have inherent flaws that prevent them from being THE answer.

Digital dumps rule. They can also be used in an emulator (assuming one is made) once all the original hardware rots away irrepairably.

For PC games, sadly the best way is NoCD hacks. By NoCD I also mean fake steam_api.dll

The only console I can think of where raw dumps haven't been done yet is the PSP. Apparently games are stored encrypted on the UMD itself, but the disc drive coprocessor already gets you the data decrypted, and there is no way found yet to switch it to raw mode.

Old cartridges with real ROM chips are very, very long-lived. Pressed optical media are better than their reputation (if treated with care).
But preserving a physical copy is preserving for you only. At some point everything must be dumped to ROM files to potentially survive centuries. (Yes, people laugh at me for thinking that far ahead, but think of classic literature – already centuries old)
TIL that the Unreal Engine was named after a 1998 game, developed by Epic MegaGames and Digital Extremes and published by GT Interactive; I always thought it was just a "cool" word chosen to sound "cool".

1 April now, and there was a neighbourhood-wide power outage early this morning; it only just got fixed.

    Not a good omen, that.

It's always sounded quite conceited and egotistical of us humans when someone says something is "universal" - like, "universal concern" - when the vast majority of the universe doesn't care or know at all. Why not stick to "global", at most?

I don't see saturn talking about our problems, where's their support?

In fact, where's my alternate universe self in all of this, huh? Where is he?

Been playing BlazeBlack 2 again, and wow is Iris the absolute worst character in Gen V; she's utterly useless.

In BW, she appears in Castelia to temporarily serve as Bianca's bodyguard, then in Opelucid to tell some part of the Reshiram/Zekrom legend (and as Gym Leader in White, instead of the much cooler Drayden). Oh, and she also appears at the end of the story along with most of the Gym Leaders to stop Plasma's Sages, but that's not exactly special to her alone, so...

In BW2, she again appears in Castelia, to guide the player to the Sewers - that's it. She disappears for the rest of the game, and later turns out to be the goddamn Champion, replacing the far more interesting and worthwhile Alder.
WORTHLESS CHARACTER. Why make this useless girl the Champion? Completely undeserved.

Is Iris as bad as XY's Diantha, though? She also does literally fuck-all throughout the game; she doesn't try to stop Team Flare, she only appears two or so times for brief chats, and she doesn't even remember your name when you do make it to the Champion's room.

Y'know, Pokemon would be a lot better if A) model animations were livened up, ala PBR on Wii or Colo/XD on GC, and B) model animations (like, say, flying or floating) inherently affected gameplay - for example, flying/floating species inherently being immune to Ground. So stuff like Mega Charizard X, Haunter, Magnezone, Bronzor, Beedrill, Venomoth, etc. would be Ground-immune without needing Levitate.

Goddamnit Susan, why'd you have to set a weekly meeting for 12-2pm every Thursday? Taking up lunch time? For boring nonsense? Fuck youuuuu.
Akina, True or False: The first Pokémon movie was created by the Warner Bros in Japan before their deaths in America. And it was known as The legend of Mewtwo.
Hi, Akira. Say, In the first movie of Pokémon, Ash and his friends meet three other Pokémon trainers and the royal queen of new island. But unfortunately, she was not the queen of new island. She was Nurse Joy. Also, Mew was very cute and adorable. Because it is a baby Pokémon.

Fun fact: I like the idea of a brainwashed Nurse Joy, abducted and forced to serve as a puppet. I've liked the idea ever since I was a child; is that weird?
Also, technically Mew isn't a "baby Pokémon" (like Munchlax, Bonsly, Mime Jr., etc.), but a Legendary one, and its first design (in Japan's Red/Green) is...very much not cute or adorable.

Mew is said to be "the ancestor of all known Pokémon" (presumably excepting the Creation and Lake trios, from Sinnoh, and Jirachi and Deoxys, which came from space, and perhaps Kyurem and stuff too...eh), so that's why it's got that design.
I've been playing Octopath Traveler lately, for something to do; previously dismissed the combat and Job system as worse than Bravely Default's, but the former is alright - the Jobs here are shallower, though.

Also not nearly as much inter-party communication or anything, which is disappointing. Though my least liked character has to be Primrose; did she have to be so bloodthirsty and violent? Ugh, I hate violent women, so I can't stand her. Why couldn't she be more like Agnès Oblige, in personality?
