  • Pokémon would be more fun without the Fluctuating (slowest) EXP group, which takes FOREVER to level up.
I wonder, did the P5S writing team base Zenkichi off P4's Dojima? Their backstories are strikingly (heh) similar, too much so to be mere coincidence...

SPOILERS, but it's been out for a while, and I wanna bring it up, so...

They both work for the police. They both have daughters. They both had their wives die in hit-and-runs. They both emotionally drift away from their daughters, trying to nail the culprits. Both culprits are still at large by the game's events. The local Persona teams help the fathers and daughters reconnect.

Sure, Dojima's culprit is a mystery who just drove off before he could learn who it was, so Dojima never gets to arrest him - Yu just helps him reconnect with Nanako, who is more important. Meanwhile, Zenkichi's culprit is known - a corrupt politician - who does get arrested at the end of the game. Those are notable differences, yes.

But the above similarities...just too many of them to just label as "coincidence". They must've used Dojima as a base, just raised his daughter's age and changed his personality and made him a Persona-wielder.
I don't know what to do with my life; a lot of internships require knowledge of programming languages, which I lack and have no idea how to learn.

My goddamn university did not prepare me well, it did not. I had one god-awful Java subject in 2017, that I only got through by rote memorisation; did a Python subject last semester that was all over the place. The only thing my uni did well was Network Security, as in subnetting and mucking about with routers and switches.

Not sure how your university taught you, but before I joined I went through like a 3 hour C# course on YouTube, it only took about 2 days to get everything and I had no idea about programming and thought it was difficult before. You should try something like that and make sure you understand each topic well, and try out the command line coding then and there each step.

Google whatever errors come up and such, and you'll get it all in no time.

Once you understand all the fundamentals you can get pretty much any language after learning the syntax and its slightly differing rules. Maybe start with C# like I did, it's a lot like Java but more English/logic friendly, and from there Python would look very simple, and Java would be pretty much the same as C#.
How does one start watching Doctor Who? What's the "best" starting point for a noob?

Thanks, Tom! Just one question - what do you mean by "modern"? Eighth Doctor (1996)? Ninth (2005)?
    Tom Bombadildo
    Tom Bombadildo
The ninth doctor is the true start of the modern series, the eighth was basically a singular failed TV movie that has basically no direct connection to the modern TV series.

As a Doctor Who weeb, I agree with starting on the ninth.

Weird how "execute" means both to start something, and to permanently halt a person's life...what quirk of history caused this?

Hmm I imagine since "execute" is to do something, it's similar to the phrase they use "do him in" to say kill him. Like, if almost all an army or assassin does is kill, to say to do someone would only mean one thing to them, kill. Whereas we have a different definition for doing someone lol.
Gen III is a fine enough Gen, but it has strict anti-cheat and a lack of moves and Abilities. Do wish Gen IV/V hacking was more complex.

That's why I don't really bother with Gen III ROM hacks much; the damn anti-cheat (Bad Egg) is practically a certainty waiting to happen, and Gen IV just brought so much fundamental content in that Gen III is a significant downgrade. Not to mention severe Ghost-type drought.
Akira, my other favorite episode of Sesame Street is when Zoey wants Telly to take care of her pet rock, Rocco, while she’s away. This episode includes the episode of Elmo’s world about babies. Because they’re so cute and adorable.
Is there a reason why Square hasn't rereleased Final Fantasy 1 PSP on PS4/5 or PC? PSP's long dead; do they just not care?
Damn, I think I'm losing my 'rosy palm' drive; just can't get into it recently. I think my imagination's shot, and that may well be why.
Y'know, My Hero Academia revealing OFA kills quirked people is dumb. Mirio was supposed to get it, and he had a quirk.

Great job, Nighteye, you woulda killed your protege!
Not to mention how it destroys every single bit of fanwork where someone else gets OFA instead of Izuku - and Bakugo even gets it in a movie or something for a bit. Is he gonna die?
Got my shot this morning, everything's fine...until a few hours ago, when my shoulder started aching like heck; can't lean on it.

@Uiaad Getting your eyes checked, and thus needing eyedrops that dilate your pupils or whatever? That happened to me in the last couple of months or so, and I *hated* it since I could not read for a while.
Whatever it is, I hope it goes well for you!

Yeah, every year I have to get this done to check for Retinopathy. The first time I had it done was April 18 th 2011 - How do I remember that date ? It was the day Portal 2 was released and I couldn't play it until the next day :/

I used to like DanTDM's mod showcases, when he was still in that "lab" in a desert next to a river, and before he died his hair an ugly blue. Those showcases displayed what could be done with the game, they did.

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and now with the rtx video upscaling, and sdr->hdr conversion, even more reason to go nvidia
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
both of which work well in potplayer
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
amd is a bit cheaper though
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Cheaper and they are less stingy with the RAM not a big issue now but I can imagine in a yard or two things might be different
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Year not yard lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye: even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
