All I have is a DSL connection and a standard router. Is it possible for me to use FileZilla to host my own FTP? If so, what do I put for the host name, etc? Will my IP Address work?

Or is there an online site that offers free domains, like ftp.whatever.doesntmatter?

EDIT: I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. A legit copy.

Yes, you can host your own FTP server, but not with FileZilla as it's only an FTP client. I have no idea what software is available under, I assume, Windows. If you want a free one a good place to start looking is sourceforge.net, just search for windows FTP server.

Your IP address will work, but since you're on DSL you probably have a dynamic IP, and even if it is static, it's easier to have a domain name. DynDNS.com offers them for free, and you can probably find a tutorial on how to set it up with your router fairly easily with a Google search.

Actually there is a Filezilla FTP server, but like KDH said, you will need the server version and not the client. You can set us user accounts, which folders they have access to, give them read or write access or make it anonymous. If your using a router tho you may need to forward port 21
