Hello everyone

I was getting tired of stuff taking ages to copy over via nut so i moved stuff around on my external hdd and copied all games there.
when i plugged it in i had tinfoil open thinking it might show up right away. it didn´t, so i thought ok maybe just restart tinfoil when i lauchned tinfoil the screen stayed black or rather grey so a signal was transmitted via the dock just a completely black one. when nothing happened even after 20 minutes i took the switch off the dock thinking that might get me back into the main menu.
but nothing changed. i then unplugged the hdd and put the switch back on the dock but it wasn´t even recognised. (the green output light indicator was on the whole time even when i took the switch off the dock) i then tried the power button but neither long or short press did anything. when undocked the switch screen was also grey so it was still on. i then thought ok maybe let the battery and that this might reset the switch. i left the switch undocked and unpowered over night i doubt the battery would be dry so fast since it was fully charged before, still the screen now was black and the dock had also stopped displaying the green output light. but again neither dock nor external charging cable illicited any reaction. i tried again to turn it on after 20 minutes on the charging cable but still nothing, neither turning it on normally or with rcm does anything.
have i really bricked my switch or is there still anything i can do?

Looks like you fried your PI3USB Video Control IC Chip.

thanks for the info from what i´ve just read from others with a dead ic chip that seems very likely =/

though i still wonder why. the external hdd was powered might there have been a power spike when plugging it in? and the same wouldn´t have happened with an ssd that´s usb powered only? though shouldn´t there be some kind of surge protection cirtutry to prevent just that?

You used third party dock or first party?
