I just bought the game for my kids and finished the Bowser's Fury side story myself (given that I already finished SM3DW on Wii U).

Is it just me or, isn't that game a bit scary for kids? Bowser is more like a demon, abnormally big and scary, the environment turns hellish, and the cats turn into demons themselves (for unknown reason?).

It reminded me of Sonic.exe !

Thanks the exploration is fantastic and when the climate turns hellish and Bowser chases you, it gives you a big dose of adrenaline. As an adult I found the experience unique for a Mario game! But for kids? that's too much probably.

interesting take, I had the same thoughts when I was playing it myself awhile back lol. like I wonder if kid me would be able to beat it especially with the loud noises and roars.

I'll have some time tomorrow maybe, usually get up at 4 or 5 in the morning. I might try out browser's fury. I've heard it's short but good.

The levels are small but there's a good amount of stuff to collect. IIRC it took me around 8 hours to 100%. Felt like the right amount of content, they could have padded out the length by making the levels (and world) larger and keeping the same amount of collectibles, for a platformer it was at times rather light on platforming. But it was long enough to have me feeling satisfied at the end.

It's pretty tame. I won't spoil it for anyone but Bowser isn't himself and that's why he's the way he is and why the cats turn evil. I think the dark elements are a perfect contrast to when everything is "under control" and only accentuates Mario's presentation when in his giant Lion form. None of it is going to keep a kid up at night especially after smacking Bowser around a few times. It's not like its MK11 or something along those lines.
