EA Play Live 2021 - roundup - Dead Space remake announced

EA is here to be the last remaining major player revealing their future plans this summer. While they bowed out of showing anything in June, EA has a whole lineup of titles to showcase in their annual event, which we'll cover here, summarizing the hour-long stream.

Live Coverage

A game about complete randomness, or at least, where life is determined by dice rolls, is the first thing EA has to show. It has a very Tim Burton-esque art style. It's called Lost in Random.

Codemasters is the latest acquisition of EA, with the studio showing us what they've got in store for their racing sims. Grid: Legends is their latest game. and it'll have tons of different cars to race, whether it's big trucks or sporty racecars, and varied racers to play as and against. The team is hyping their story mode.

Apex Legends is next. What's next? Emergence. A new hero, Seer, has drones that can track enemies, and brand new abilities. He's a stealthy legend, and can avoid detection if you move slowly. Ranked Arena mode will also be coming soon.

Lost in Random gets another feature, in which you get to see its gameplay, which has some 3D platformer elements. The combat system is third person action, with cards that can randomize how you fight against enemies.

Knockout City is getting a Season 2. There's new maps, rewards, skins, and more, with a launch on July 27th.

Battlefield 2042 will have three important modes, with the newest one focused on community feedback, all defined by the player's rules. The mode is called Portal, and appears to let you make your own custom matches with elements from all the Battlefield games of the past. You'll be able to share your custom game modes, too.

Finally, Dead Space is getting a remake, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It only got a short teaser, but the game has been confirmed.

Dead Space remake is interesting. I'd like to say I'd rather have a new entry in the series, but since 3 decided to be super action-y instead of proper horror I'm not entirely confident in their ability to make a good Dead Space game anymore.

So yay, a remake. Maybe the PC port will be better off this time

I had played Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3. I'm currently playing the 1st one since it is free on EA Pass. They kinda need to make a Dead Space 4

Dead space would be a welcomed addition and probably fun on the SteamDeck as well hopefully it'll launch around the same time.

I usually shit on Battlefield and Call of Duty games, but not gonna lie, Battlefield 2042 keeps looking shockingly great.

Dead Space is one of the few, if not the only, fucking worthwhile IP from them.
Hands down is one of the best horror franchises of all time, and it was such a shame that it didn't continued past 3.
Hopefully, this changes things.
EA is the reason it failed so I wont be buying this simply to spite them. after they butcherd and killed off a company due to them fucking things up they dont deserve to be trusted.

Agree. They highly mishandled the whole thing, taking a company down with the games.
Tbh their fucking greed is what killed it off more than anything, if they don't get 7-numbers figures, they call it a failure and shelve the thing.

Horror games rarely see those figures from what I know, and from my point of view they still sold great, but then again, I'm no corporate fuck wanting dollar milk.

You've hit the "rotate gun" button! Only $19.99 to move your shots from vertical to horizontal! Just $4.99 more to rotate back! EA IT'S IN THE GAME!!! (after you pay extra for it!)

Worst EA press conference.
To add insult to injury it was a month late when you consider that under normal circumstances that would’ve been during E3.
No new word on a new mass effect, no new dragon age, no new Single player IP’s period.
Closest thing to good announced was that mediocre battlefield with its weird time travel gimmick, but even with that… No battlefield Vietnam mentioned.
If your gimmick is hitting all the eras you need to do all the eras.
