Ratchet & Clank for PlayStation 4 will be given away for free to keep this March

Last year, PlayStation offered two games to players, as part of the Play At Home initiative, which included the likes of Journey and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. The promotion will be making a return this year, with a "series of free games and entertainment offers" to be given out. Starting on March 1st, Ratchet & Clank will be available for free, and you'll be able to claim it until the end of the month, where you'll get to keep it permanently. On top of that, PlayStation players will be given free access to anime streaming service Funimation Premium, for a limited time, beginning on March 25th.

What we outlined today is just the beginning of what’s in store for Play At Home. In the coming weeks, we’ll share more details on free games and entertainment offers dropping for our PlayStation community.

i never got the "being a fan of a company" thing, their goal is to make money, you owe them nothing and they owe you nothing, consoles are just a bootloader into games, be a fan of games, not consoles or companies

It's nice of them to give away freebies - last year they dropped Uncharted Collection and Journey, now it's Ratchet & Clank. A little tip for those who don't happen to have a PlayStation right now - claim the game anyway by making an account online. If you ever do pick up a Sony console, it'll be sitting there waiting for you. It's what I did before picking up a PS3 when I still only owned a PSVita, and then before I upgraded from 3 to 4. May as well build the library ahead of time.

You can register a PSN account on the PlayStation Store.

Once you do own a system, you can use that same account on your console and download anything you've added to your library. Keep in mind that the freebie doesn't go live until March 2nd, so you may want to do that closer to the date.

You can if you want to, but you'll have to use three separate e-mails. The systems themselves are region free, so you can use three accounts to snatch content from all three regions. I personally have two accounts, a US one and an EUR one, but mostly due to the fact that review codes we get are sometimes region locked. Most users should be fine with just one account in their region.

I would love to get it for my best friend because he is a huge fan of this game. Unfortunately, he already have physical version. I can still get it, thought. I guess I can't because I am on exploitable PS4. :(

Protip for people who use gmail - if you add extra stuff after a plus sign to your identifier (eg if your email is [email protected] you can use [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] etc), you can use it to create psn accounts and the like as if it's a separate email address, but the mails all still come to your regular gmail inbox. You can set filters to label them separately if you want.

I did not know that, that's a really cool life hack! Is this some standard protocol or a unique Google feature? I've never heard of this before. If it's unique to Gmail, they should advertise it - that's a killer feature.

I always grab the digital versions and trade my physical ones unless the game is sentimental to me and I want to keep the box on the shelf. No harm in owning both, but you get to be lazy instead of shuffling discs.

Yeah it's just a gmail thing afaik. They have mention of it on some pages (eg) but yeah it's not like they really advertise it.
