Thanks for the info. I normally keep my NAND backups and keys in the same zip folder so if I lose one I lose them both. I guess I should try and find another way to store them. Lol.

I know the keys are (or were?) stored at the very end (or beginning?) of nand.bin, so that you could basically copy and paste your keys.bin as long as you had nand.bin. My memory is a bit fuzzy on this, but I think the keys are supposed to be included in the nand.bin file, and one severely outdated version of bootmii accidentally excluded it, and at the time folks were having to append the file manually using a hex editor in order to actually restore a nand dump. This was a long time ago and like I said my memory is a bit fuzzy, but you get the jist. There's your wii hacking history trivia for the day, lol

@90Ninety it is not exclusive, you can use USB Loaders and Emunand. I myself am using USB Loader GX and got almost perfect compatibility for all Wii titles and GameCube games. WiiWare and VC took me longer, but I have managed to run all I have tried, in one way or another. Some of them run through 'Full' emunand emulation, some I needed to use 'Neek' mode, but always from USBLoaderGx.

First question, do you have a dumped nand somewhere in your SD card? (normally it is under 'sd:/nands/pl_xx' [xx= eu, us or jp]). If not, emunand will not work. You can either dump your own nand to a file, or create an emunand using ModMii (option install NEEK+create nand). If you need more detailed instructions on how to do it, answer this post or pm me.

Now, how to get Neek mode up and running? Starting from your current installation, I would do this:

1) Create a 'sd:/wbfs' folder.
2) Try to start Neek2o using the channel.

If it does not work,

3) Remove the file '/sneek/di.bin', or move it somewhere else.
4) Try again to start Neek2o using the channel.

If it still does not work,

5) Delete the folder 'sd:/sneek'.
6) In ModMii, select the options UNeek + DI instead.
7) Copy the files from ModMii (copy_to_sd and copy_to_usb) to the sd/usb.
8) Copy the emunand from the SD card to the usb drive (if you had it in 'sd:/nands/pl_eu' move it to 'usb:/nands/pl_eu')
9) Try to start Neek2o using the channel

This last option is what worked for me. For what I have seen, UNEEK is much easier to get up and running than SNEEK.

Once you get the emunand to work, rest is as easy as to configure the wiiware/VC titles depending on its compatibility.

It is important to note, most of the wiiware/VC titles will black screen if they are from other regions, even after patching them via Freethewads, ShowMiiWads or using Priiloader Region Free all, therefore it is a good idea to have a second Emunand for those games from different regions (or three, if you also want to access JP titles).

I can explain how I am using two emunands from USBLoaderGX to start all WiiWare / VC titles without issues and without need to change the path if someone is interested, but I will leave that for another post.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

What about wii VC wiiware? Can that be installed via USB loader? I search this and it allways leads to uNeek/Sneek , which just is not working . Spent 2+ days playing around with it , Im done with it

USBLoaderGX has an integrated WAD manager, so you do can install VC and Wiiware via USBLoaderGx (Settings -> Features -> Emunand wad manager).

No you don't require Neek. USBLoaderGx has an embedded nand emulator, and it works well but has limited compatibility, therefore it is advisable to have Neek installed as well.

USBLoaderGx can also run WW/VC titles in 'Neek' mode, by just changing one setting for those titles not compatible with the embedded emunand.

@XFlak I'm trying to use ModMii to build UNEEK+DI neek2o rev96 but it's not working. I attached a screenshot so you can see what I am getting. I tried following a guide I wrote years ago here (https://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/page-1072#post-5929568) (thank god I knew where that was so I didn't have to figure it all out again) in case you want to see the steps I took to get to this error. Any ideas on what's wrong?

On a side note, is there a way to automatically download everything that ModMii could possibly use so I already have it downloaded for ModMii to use in the event that any of the files it needs are no longer available online? Thank you.

You can do that using the text only GUI. However you might need to try several times.

@Clutz450, the screenshot is not of building uneek.

I'm just guessing, but it may have something to do with this

NOTE: Effective late October 2020, the following minor BUG exists in ModMii preventing UNRAR from being downloaded, which is required for ModMii to install (S)NEEK, until an update in released (hopefully soon-ish), please follow the directions in my post quoted below as a workaround
the download link I was using (not my own) is no longer working for some reason, if you add UnRAR.exe to your temp folder it should work for you

edit:
thanks for reporting this, I will address this in the next ModMii update

edit2:
Until I push an update, to fix this, open ModMii.bat in notepad or notepad++, and edit replace all the following:
Code:
https://ayera.dl.sourceforge.net/project/menuui/UnRAR.exe
with this:
Code:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/menuui/files/UnRAR.exe

Regarding downloading all the modmii files, just go to the modmii classic download pages and queue up everything (A=All) and download. Then also build neek2o and the original neek, and then your modmii temp folder should contain everything it needs to run in the future even without wifi

Oops. Sorry about that. I accidentally uploaded the wrong picture. I edited my last post with the correct screenshot. Also, Unrar.exe is in my temp folder already. I also tried updating that line in the modmii.bat file just in case. But I am still getting the same error as in my screenshot. Thank you.

The only explanation is that you cannot download this for some reason:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/sneek-modmii/files/SNEEKInstallerv0.7a-cred.rar/download

If you manually grab this file, and save the rar file to the same folder as modmii.exe it should pick it up and continue

Note, some older version of neek require the previous installer (https://sourceforge.net/projects/sneek-modmii/files/SNEEKInstallerv0.6c-cred.rar/download)

edit: you could also double check to make sure you have the latest version of wget and unrar used by modmii, but I doubt this is the issue

Also, I just started downloading everything through ModMii so I have it all for later just in case anything goes offline and one of the things it downloads brought up a possible threat in Windows Security. I know it's not ModMii that is giving this alert but just in case ModMii is downloading something that does have some kind of malicious code in it I thought you should know.

Edit - Download finished and I got a message saying that "3 of 253 file(s) are Invalid, Missing or were Not Updated properly". Looking through the list it looks like those 3 files are cBC-NMMv0.2a.wad, Accio Hacks, and Cheat Codes. I'm sure I don't need any of those files for what I'll be doing but I just wanted to let you know anyways.

Hello.:)

I have also downloaded this Tool (Wii Shortcut Maker I think from ModMii´s Download Page 2) and everything is fine.
Windows 10 with activated Security Center/Real Time Protection.
I have my ModMii Folder on D: so maybe this is your "Alert Issue".

Thank you.:)

My alert said that there was a Keygen in WiiGSC.

I can't do anything about the false positive on WiiGSC, but I've fixed the 3 other downloads you identified in the modmii beta I'm working on. If you (or anyone) want to join my very small beta testing group on discord shoot me a PM for the details, otherwise wait for the official release (probably 2 to 8 weeks to finish, depending on when my helpers can finish recording new videos)

I'm interested. Feel free to tell me in PM if you'd rather not post it here. Thanks.

It's not a big deal. So I have two emunand, one EU_PAL which is a backup of my own Wii nand, and a US_NTSC generated via ModMii. You can consider generating a third JP_NTSC nand if you want to play games from this region.

In USBLoaderGX I set up full nand emulation as default, and point to my EU_PAL.

When there is a wad that requires Neek I just change the individual game settings to: use "Neek mode" and the emunand route to the US_NTSC. Then I install this wad in BOTH the EU_PAL and the US_NTSC (Or both in EU_PAL and JP_NTSC in case of a japanese title).

Installing in both emunands is just for you to see the title without need of manually swapping the emunand route every time.

I would strongly recommend setting up the emunand from your region as main, and using USBLoaderGX full nand emulation whenever possible. If your wii is US_NTSC and you do not have PAL or JP titles then it should be enough to use the main emunand and only changing the "neek mode" in the individual game settings for those that cannot work without neek.

Hope it was clear... otherwise PM me and I will explain in detail.

It would be good if modmii was updated to include the newest version of priiloader alongside wizards to help modding wii minis.
You can update priiloader after installing it but it kinda defeats its purpose to create a way to mod the wii in one place and the new version of priiloader have wii mini compatibility alongside some useful additions like being able to control the menu using the front panel buttons or a usb keyboard.

The latest private modmii beta already includes the latest priiloader, but not wii mini support, as this requires Linux & bluebomb it's not very compatible with a windows tool like modmii. I hope to be able to push a modmii update within a matter of weeks, but it depends on when my helpers can help me finalize a few new videos for modmii's guides
