So I have a Wii U that is no longer power on. Nothing weird happened with it, was running fine then just stopped. I tested the power supply with a multimeter and it was bad so I borrowed my friends Wii U adapter to try with mine, their adapter tests fine but my Wii U still doesn’t get power. No light are anything. Where should I start looking for the issue? I am comfortable dismantling the console if need be

Ouch man! First port of call I'd check is the fan to make sure it's not dirty/faulty and causing overheating.

If that's not the problem, your bad ac adapter may have shorted the motherboard. It's a very long teardown process but if you can, look for any signs of burnt out components.

If you find evidence of that, you would have to call Nintendo for a repair if they will.....it would ensure you are able to keep any games and saves you have as swapping the motherboard is basically a new console! Bear in mind of course they will not touch a modded console and probably be cheaper to just buy another one.

I do hope you can find an easy answer!

I am a complete moron. I opened it up and noticed that the front panel ribbon cable was loose, which confused me cause I had the latch flipped up, when I started messing with it it felt really loose, so I flipped it down and it locked. I’ve never seen these connectors use locks that lock when flipped down. Sure enough after I connected it back and locked it in place, it all works fine.
