I believe they're hoping for some sort firmware specific exploit. If its clean i see no reason why it would be bad to update.
Only update if you don't have any other console that is not patched.I have an unmodded 8.1.1 Switch Lite. It has never been connected to the internet.
I have an Erista Switch on the latest firmware. Does this mean I should not update my Switch Lite?Only update if you don't have any other console that is not patched.

That depends. Is your Erista unit hacked? What do you use the Lite for? And how willing are you to hack your Lite?I have an Erista Switch on the latest firmware. Does this mean I should not update my Switch Lite?
Yes and no. I hack it then restore a clean NAND backup before going online. Is your Erista unit hacked?
Right now, very little. I'd like to play certain games like Xenoblade Chronicles on it. Games which run at 720p will look better on a pixel perfect display. To get these games looking right I need to use ReverseNX and sysclk, hence the need to hack it. I don't like the feel of the original Switch in handheld mode. What do you use the Lite for?
I have an SX Lite sitting at home. Originally my plan was to use it but now I'm reluctant because it's unclear whether SX OS will receive further support. I'm hoping to be able to run Atmosphere on it.And how willing are you to hack your Lite?
Atmosphere is implementing Mariko support so at one point, it will be able to used on your Switch Lite. Whether it will require the modchip or not remains to be seen.I have an SX Lite sitting at home.
