I'm playing Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stone and want to replace my save data with an existing one. I have a .sav file downloaded on the internet, is it possible to apply it?

I'm not an English-speaking resident, so I'm sorry if it's hard to understand what I'm saying.

Where did you download it from? If you just asked someone to copy a file off their SD card, then the file is encrypted and will be completely unusable.

Not true, like I said I copied my save off my 3ds using the guide above. Why would theirs be encrypted and not mine?

Citra can play saves off any 3DS.

Your files are not encrypted precisely because you used that guide. If you did not use that guide, then your files would be encrypted.

Also, the files you obtained weren't ".sav", were they?

ETA: You will note the example uses a file named "BigRedSave.dat". Properly-decrypted and unpacked save data can have any extension.

Did you even look at the guide? It just tells you to use checkpoint (which is the main way to dump saves from 3ds) and then just says where to put them. It doesn't have you do anything special, and yes they are .sav.

Of course I looked at the guide. But at this point neither of us have any idea what Mr. tobey6 did, now do we?

Dude you a delusional I proved you wrong clearly and you give me non-sense about not knowing what the OP did. You said if it came from another 3DS it's encrypted and won't work on Citra, I clearly disproved that. Maybe learn that you can be wrong everyone is sometimes it's not the end of the world. I'm moving on....

I downloaded it from a site called "3DS savegames".
My 3DS doesn't have CFW installed, so I can't retrieve my save data.

As I said at the beginning, I'm not good at English, so it's possible that your question hasn't been answered completely. If so, I'm sorry.

It is useful to provide a link in cases like this. Are you referring to https://3ds-savegames.com/game/inazuma-eleven-go-2-chrono-stone-wildfire ?

The files uploaded by FedorAd are completely useless: I have no idea how he made them, but they contain no useful data. (You can open the .sav files in Notepad and see for yourself: they contain nothing but the character "ÿ" repeated.)

The fifth one, uploaded by corio59bg that contains "head.ie" and "game.ie", looks like it was properly dumped. (That would explain why people are asking for head.ie and game.ie in the comments.) You might be able to use that with Citra. In this case, the files would go in:
sdmc

└── 00000000000000000000000000000000

That is most likely a Gateway or Sky3DS save file. There is no way to decrypt those without a 3DS and a (working) Gateway or Sky3DS cart and there is no way for Citra to read them either AFAIK. The PC side tools that can decrypt saves are only designed to work on SD save data, not on raw saves like those Gateway and Sky3DS uses.

That would have been much nicer to know in the first place, thank you.

The files there are not useless, but as Mr. Jdbye has suggested, I think you will need a Gateway or Sky3DS in order to do anything with them.
