I found a cap short near the m92t36. It was the only thing that I could find that might be causing a boot up problem. I removed the m92t36, but the solder was insanely hard to melt, even with help from flux and low temp solder. I had the heat gun up to 840 degrees Fahrenheit. Really hot. I was able to remove the chip but because of the heat it just crumbled under my tweezers and once I was down to the metal, the low temp solder and heat finally got to the oem solder and got melty. Pad 34 was lost. I’m really sad. I don’t know what it does, but I was able to find some copper where the pad was and I tested the bare copper for continuity and it goes to ground. If that is what it is supposed to do, fantastic!, I can wire mod a new chip in. If not, does anyone know where I CAN wire Pin 34 to?

Hi,

Pin 34 is a setting pin for dead battery scenarios and may not actually be connected to anything. I can check it for you when I get back to my bench next week.

It may well be wired the same way as pin 33, so you may want to check that. It could well be ground....

Ah, thank you. I've checked it on another board with the chip still on it, and it reads at 657 or thereabouts for resistance, but without the chip, it beeps when grounded. Maybe I'll just try put a new chip on and see what happens.

Did you figure out if that pad is a ground pad or not? I haven't tried to solder that chip in place yet, but pad 33 doesn't go to ground with the chip removed, so I'm a little worried I fragged the board.
