I was not looking for textures -- that is normal and expected at this point. You mentioned no HUD as one of the few things in that original post and I wondered what was special about it, in some games it can change things quite radically but here it did not a great deal.
No salt here either, you must be imagining or projecting.
there is no benefit to disabling the hud

totally came off salty to me. Doesn't matter if it's skyrim or Devil may cry so many games I would love graphically if there is no hud. His improvement of the textures is so striking that it became obvious you saltily did not even bother to watch video.

No hud is a gaming thing that i never really knew i liked until a friend suggested it. This was several years ago. I would consider this something that became more desirable the more games got 3d/immersive/sandbox. Since super mario 64 has not had this in retroarch on switch I really think this is very cool. But obviously everything you posted is junk just because you don't care about improving the textures so um yeah you are totally in that minority of purists who don't want the game modded at all which if we set up a poll is prob somewhere between 5-15% of peeps here.

Why do you use gbatemp? lol i mean this is a mod/homebrew site for real? did you just get lost and find this thread? serious question...saltman...

Improved textures/resolution was done pages and pages ago, and in the other thread as well. It is a known variable so I don't care any more and was not looking for anything there on that front unless it is radically retooled (someone playing with subsurf and otherwise correcting things, or going all https://me.me/i/is-mario-creepy-in-real-life-here-is-your-answer-919585121bf448e1821c5cd3fe66bcd5 on me).
I am all for improvements in general though.

Equally I can see the merits in hud less play for some things (done a few hacks for it even) but did not see a great deal here. Works great in survival games, things where you are all about exploring the world, dreamcast resident evil code veronica having health off the screen worked great...) but for mario 64... yeah not sure what it brings.

See like you sound like a nice person and all (compared to your first reply) but the main problem i see with you is you are commenting on things you don't know! So like what I mean is you obviously to me did not watch the video i posted. So far what we have seen are hd pack ports from pc emulation. Cool! definitely! but retroarch could actually do that! So you either did not know this or just forgetting or whatever, Now what is way cooler about the switch port is the performance is much improved with the hd packs. Please understand I have tested pretty much every release of switch port. Getting back to how you are commenting on things you don't know. Look in this BMT port he did alot of custom texture work. It's definitely distinctive. No it's nothing we can see pages back (so like when you don't take time to watch the video this is obvious to me). Anywho coupled with the no hud nice experience. Try it out!

I am a complete and utter cunt and have been all my life, however I was not being that in the earlier post -- you misread it entirely.

I did watch the video as well. Did not see anything remarkable beyond the HUD stuff and even then that seemed like a token thing you could do with no great merit as to the final resulting play (or even a negative outside of some of the more exotic parts of challenge play).

i think you skipped around on a poor res device.

Strongly suggest you boot it up for yourself (it's obvious you have not done this) and take a look at the text work he put in. If you don't notice it in the video it's the device you are using to watch. Dude put in some serious improvements but oddly it makes the game lag slightly hahaha

later cunt!

Can't wait to see what the next version of SM64 PC holds in store.
More so with all the awesome work being done during this past 2 weeks :)

i found some pretty wild hd pack but have no idea how to port it to switch it's like just sitting there. I hate this personally cause people horde instead of share alot on switch scene

Is the Switch port still being worked on?
I saw this on the Youtube it's for the PC version but I'm not sure if it will work on Switch too.. It looks amazing :)

I love the idea of this model pack, making the graphics look like the promotional art of the time of Mario 64. It's so cool and is really satisfying an itch I've apparently had for years without knowing I ever even had it.
