From the USB Loader GX screen, when I click a Wii game and then click start I freeze on a black screen the controller turns off. GameCube games play fine with no problem.

Hello.:)

Your sysCheck is ok.

Is your USB Device
(HDD or USB Stick/Thumb Drive/Flash Drive/Pen Drive) plugged in the correct Port 0 on your Wii please ?

Thank you.:)

Yes it is in that port.

Also, this is the flash drive I'm currently using. It has both Wii games and GameCube games in their separate folders (games and wbfs folders)

It is FAT32 formatted as well. Also, I used Wii Backup Manager to transfer Wii games to the flash drive.

Your Flash Drive is formatted with FAT32 I think and has one Partition on it ?
Flash Drives (USB Sticks/Pen Drives and that Kind) are known to not work properly.
Most the newer One (> USB 3.0).

Some work, some not it is really not a reliable Solution today.More like "Russian Roulette"...
It is really recommended to use a HDD with Power Supply.:)

"Maybe Solutions":

You can look into the USBLoader GX Setting and check under
Loader Settings the Loader´s IOS (should be 58) and the Game´s IOS (should be 249).
I am sure, your Settings are set to these Values.

You can try to change the Games IOS in the In Game Settings per Game but I am not sure this will help.:(

You can also try to change your Settings from:
IOS249[56] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250[57] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
to
IOS249[57] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250[56] (rev 65535, Info: d2x-v10beta52): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
(you can easily use the d2x cIOS Installer for this - Base 57 has the better Game Compatibility)

But I am not sure this will solve your Issue.:(

You can try this "Suggestions" if you like.
Good Luck

Thank you.:)

Ok, small update. I tried a different flash drive and formatted it (via WBM) to WBFS format and that worked. So I'm now going to see if it was the flash drive itself or the format (FAT32 instead of WBFS) causing the issue. Thank you again for your help Alexander.

Final update. It was the flash drive, NOT the format. Thanks again Alexander. Very much appreciated.

changing the slot is not always working.
if you use 251 it probably means you use d2x base58.
It's useful to use "base 58" and your device properly initialize only when the loader is using "IOS58" and doesn't work with cIOS using other bases.

just remember that base58 is not a very good base for game compatibility, you risk to find games either not working at all (black screen again) or freeze while you are playing.

using base58 is only a half solution to the flashdrive or incompatible HDD problem.
As long as it works fine, and you know the risk, that's enough for a quick fix :)
