MaxConsole Posts photos of the new TX Switch modchip

Someone spilled the beans earlier today, and took photos of their Switch console with the new TX Switch Modchip installed!

Pictures they say are worth more than 1000 words, and in this case earlier today MaxConsole posted 3 of them, showcasing what appears to be the new TX Switch ModChip installed on console. :)
From what he agreed to tell us, they are still improving the product on both Mariko and Patched Switch so first shipment will only be after Chinese New Year. Unfortunately a good month away (or more). For information, he added the product also work on unpatched console, so basically all classic models function with this product. Still the product is coming, getting closer, and a separate product for Switch Lite is also underway. I guess we will have to be a bit more patient for more info.

The pictures are only showing part of the installation because he was concerned to be identified by board numbers or such. But he promised he will send us more info in the weeks to come. So probably the next 4 weeks until CNY is over and that we can hopefully also receive our own final review samples!

So am I the only one that thinks this micro usb port may also be used to do more than load software for this chip. I'm thinking this may be the point where they update the cheat device with usb support.

well at least you beat the TX haters into being first to reply for once :toot:

Great work TX, looks like this will even shut more or the TX haters up, even some will sell their Soul to TX and buy one :)

But Joe, most of the atmosphere users have told us they are too poor to afford to buy SX OS, so I guess they'd need to sell more than their souls to pay for it!

that's crazy
that model is the ugliest and cheapest looking one
i would only chose it over the blackone
yellow, teal , poke ,black
right? if i wanted a "special" pokemon edition lite, id just take mine to my friend and have him engrave and paint it to make it look 10x better than that crap they re selling. ((he's a real great artist and does console case mods when he can!)

My gf got me a second 400 gb micro SD card for my birthday. When this releases and that dragon trinket thing releases (with the three sd card slots), I'm gonna have a hay day
The DragonMMC will not be compatible with iPatched & Mariko Switch's unfortunately.

I'm a retard so can someone explain how it's installed? I see it's attached to the Micro USB port but I could be wrong.

Not a retard bro :yay: the pictures don't clearly show how it is installed, nor do we have any real information on the installation process. Some more switch savvy folks may have an idea however.

Anyone that is too poor to buy sx os wouldnt be able to get a switch in the first place

That is indeed a weird argument. You buy a console for nearly 300 bucks and then have two options, either pay 50 for every single game or either pirate for free or pirate by paying the 25 to 50 (depending if you're only buying SX Os or also a dongle) you'd have to pay anyway if you wanted to play anything on the console you just bought

I'd buy one, but I want to khow complicated the installation process is - the way it looks on photos isn't something I'd want to risk myself, honestly.

From the looks of the photos, it it's a matter of - removing the back cover (9 screws), removing the microsd reader and heatshield (5 screws from memory) unplugging the eMMC, plugging in the board, plugging the emmc into the board, and re-attaching the microsd reader and then redoing the case. (no heatshield)

I should have been clearer sorry!

I meant they are just using RCM to get something to the tegra in the first place.

You mean boot to RCM, send data that doesn't get executed but stays in memory, then reboot & do some other glitch that relies on that data.

It's possible. The USB part should be reasonably simple to see what it's doing as you can hook up a USB protocol debugger. I'm not sure if there is something similar for MMC.

Although currently we don't know if it's even hooked up to USB.

Haha nice one TX - I'm sure a few Atmos fan boys are now in full meltdown, knowing that they might need to buy a TX product if they have a new Switch.....it will be fun to watch a few on here eat their own words.

Hm. Sounds manageable, though I'm not sure if I want to remove the heatshield from my Switch.

first pic shows heatshield is on .... looks like this modchip is super easy to install - including heatshield.
