Hello,

I'm requesting some help regarding flashing the ALTERA MAX II of an USB Gecko.
It's the chip EPM570T100C5N which is standard for those "generation 1" devices of the USB Gecko.

It's a brand new device - freshly assembled, but there is no firmware on the ALTERA chip.
I know that it's supposed to be done via the JTAG pins on the back and i have an USB Blaster Programmer including the QUARTUS II programmer software and even the USB Gecko source code but i always get these errors in Quartus II:

Error:JTAG chain problem detected
Error:No device detected
Error:The TD0 connection to the download cable might be shorted to GND or is an open circuit
Error:The TCK and TMS connections to the last device might have problem

These are the pictures of the original USB Gecko and it's the one i have right here:

Big thanks in advance.

Okay, i got it done by soldering to the JTAG pads and finally flashing the firmware onto the ALTERA MAX II.
Now this makes life much easier.

Time do buy some more of those and hope that they will become usable USB Geckos in the end...
They are soooo much rarely these days but pretty great development devices.

Now it's time to get some beer.
