Hey, another question on the topic of painting or joycon modding, Has anyone figured out what the special trick is to using vinyl skins for a joycon? Like, measurements and stuff for cutting or what material or adhesive to use in order to not "eat the plastic" like they were all doing in the past?

I am going to eventually buy my fiance a Cricut vinyl cutting machine, and If i figured out measurements, I would love to make me some vinyl skins for my system or joycons since its prolly a lot easier than to strip and paint every time I want to change some colors...

Find out what sort of plastic the JoyCons are made out of and you should be able to find info on whether it's safe to use with a certain adhesive.
I just checked the markings on the inside of one of my spare JoyCon shells for you and it says PC-ABS which appears to be an alloy of polycarbonate and ABS plastic. The only question is what that soft touch coating is made out of, which it doesn't say. I imagine the exact safe adhesive used is a trade secret among companies making skins, but you could certainly do your own testing on it by putting small pieces of vinyl with different adhesives on a sacrificial shell. Dbrand supposedly worked with 3M to have an adhesive custom made that wouldn't damage the finish, but I'm sure there are bound to be other more easily available adhesives that would also work.
