This isn't the problem. The problem is you're requiring the Atmosphere fork again, which means Tinfoil is unusable for some people. By disabling the requirement for the fork in 5.0.0, you demonstrated that there's actually no need for the fork. Whatever your reason for requiring the fork, it has nothing to do with making things better for users, and you are forcing your userbase to shrink. It's not a very smart thing to do.I mean, it is well within my rights to disable services to old clients. If your mod is doing something with my software that I do not agree with, you shouldnt be shocked when I disable its services to force an upgrade. That is software development 101, everyone does it Go write nintendo some hate mail for disabling their online services for old clients
That was true in 5.0.0, not in 5.1.0.@blawar said it himself, the "fork" of atmosphere isn't needed he just forces people to use it because he wants to not because tinfoil actually needs it.
No, the mod is no longer supported. Can't you just use the mod and not need to use any fork or mercury?
It works fine on 5.00 I guess but not 5.1.0 until they add support for it.No, the mod is no longer supported.
I have discontinued TinfoilMod. The cryptographic keys have changed on 5.10 and so has the cryptographic VM. Hence, TinfoilMod cannot decrypt updated repositories; and even porting those private keys to the latest TinfoilMod release could be blocked easily. It works fine on 5.00 I guess but not 5.1.0 until they add support for it.
sounds like it's easier to build your own installer thenI have discontinued TinfoilMod. The cryptographic keys have changed on 5.10 and so has the cryptographic VM. Tinfoil 5.10 also removed most cryptographic keys from previous versions, rendering 5.10 incompatible with repositories using those keys.
I'd say it's easier to just hack onto DZ/Tinfoil, but that might be just me.sounds like it's easier to build your own installer then
I know a lot of people love Goldleaf, maybe fork it and add features to it? It's Opensource but @XorTroll wish not to add features such as NSZ since it would be only for piracy. A modified version would probably very appriated.I'd say it's easier to just hack onto DZ/Tinfoil, but that might be just me.
Considering the current state of public homebrew toolchains, I don't think any proper or viable homebrew/application could realistically be built.
critical security patch, use mercury to update
So, I used Mercury to update Tinfoil and now it says the environment is corrupt. I suppose I need to fetch the fork manually after every update... would it be possible for the update to do that in the future?
As I mentioned in our PM, you're going to have a lot of "newbs" who update Atmosphere in the future and receive the "install environment corrupt" error message. You're making things significantly harder on yourself and everyone who provides support. Not every update, the fork only changes when atmosphere does.

We haven't had an Atmosphere update since the fork was forced, friend.Ive actually have very few people that have gotten the message, that did not know what to do. Most people understood that they werent extracting the whole zip when they tried to install it. And its obvious to them they need to copy everything. THe only support that generally comes from that, are people trying to find ways to avoid copying everything.
Is the atmos fork actually important? I saw there's a tinfoil mod that works with any CFW floating around
It's dropped in the latest release, I'm using it now with vanilla atmosphere without any of the additions, just tinfoil/hbg. It's working great. It is an irony to be honest, Blawar should drop the requirement of his custom fork and mercury requirement. It is sad to get random requests for help even on ebay when I'm selling something else non related.
